Well, I went to the LBS and talked to everyone I could about the choice of new prop. My choice is either the 3 blade folding prop from Gori or a 2 blade Autoprop from Bruntons. My choice is influnced as follows:

Gori
Three blade power
Autodrive feature
Folding prop so slighlty less drag in sailing
Blade flips so have leading edge while in reverse

Brunton Autoprop
feathering prop
Less propwalk in reverse beacuse it is self pitching
Self pitching
Blade flips so have leading edge while in reverse

So which one should I go for?

Thanks

Went through the same decision making myself, and settled on the Brunton 2 blade prop. The deciding factor for me was prop efficiency - I've a relatively small engine.

After a couple of seasons use, I'm delighted with the Autoprop - 1/2 to 3/4 knot increase in speed both sailing and motoring. No hesitation in recommending it.

No experience of the Gori prop.

I went through the same choice last year and got as 3 blade Autoprop.

The self pitching was the real benefit for me and the drag is not that much more than a folding.

They are both good props and will give you years of service. The Gori is better if you never motor sail.

Tim,
Interested in your experience especially as you have a small engine. Would you be good enough to tell me
1. !/2- 3/4 knot increase in speed...... What prop did you have before?
2. How big is your boat?
3. What engine do you have and is it a conventional shaft or saildrive?
4. What is the diameter of your autoprop?
Sorry for all the questions but I needa justification to spend all that money!
