Thanks Vyv!
Disappointing as the chain was bought from a reputable chandlery and was reassuringly expensive (about £20/m).
So what should I look for to make sure i'm getting one which has been welded correctly, a certificate?
Question about chain over bow rollers for you all.
The chain pictured has been used as the 'back up' to two rope stops on a swinging mooring for a 27' boat.
It appears to be cracking at the weld on the link which sits on the bow roller. I have had a chain fail at this point many years ago on...
What a great idea!
It is a couple of years since I was last involved with the D of E but I think DS theory is in many ways too much for Bronze skill , many participants don’t take on anything as challenging or serious - good on her!
If the courses run back to back, could she volunteer to...
Is this the key bit -
I think I recall the following explanation- throttle position sets the desired RPM. The governor then sets the fuel rack to inject a volume of fuel needed to reach this rpm at a given load.

Thought you might be interested in a quick run down of last week’s trip. Photos to follow later!
I’ve sailed in the Ionian a couple of times (pre pandemic), but always on a friend’s boat. This trip was the first time out as bareboat skipper, with a crew of university friends and partners.

Hoping to sail out Lefkas next year and have the choice of the last week of April or the first 2 weeks of May. (Though flights from Manchester seem extortionate and at inconvenient times ?).
Would you think there would be any appreciable change in the weather in that time frame? Not too...
Dear all,
I'm thinking of converting a knackered old oil lamp to battery. Thinking maybe hiding a small USB power pack in the body, and adding a flickering effect bulb where the wick was.
Question is, has anyone any suggestions for parts, particularly a suitable bulb?
Regards,
Matt
Hi all,
I'm after a cheap, no nonsense ammeter, i.e not bothered about counting amphours in and out, calculating state of charge etc, just want a plain reading.
I can find what i'm looking for as an integrated unit, however I need one with a shunt.
Units like this are available ...
Dear all,
I need to have a (very simple) bit of stainless plate fabricated (a rectangular plate 200mm by 300mm with two holes drilled).
Hoping i may be able to do it by sending a drawing off to someone.
Google reveals lots of small workshops who may be interested, but wondered if anyone had...
