    Filling propane Gas Bottles?

If Calor are so short of bottles, then it might be an idea to come and empty the used bottles cage in the marina I'm in. Can't get 4.5kg butane at all.

    Sane prices for boat curtains

I adapted my own from off the shelf blackout curtains from Dunelm. Got the width required for 1 curtain for each of the saloon windows and basically shortened and hemmed them by hand. The leftover material was used with some curtain tape to make one for the head and another for the forward...

    Anybody sailing UK-NI this year?

I do. I sailed direct from oban to derry with no issues on arrival, spent a week there and then onward to Ballycastle and Carrickfergus. The plan is to complete a fortnight in NI and then down to the south as there are no restrictions on travel from NI to the Republic unless you have been...

    River Clyde / Glasgow City

I visited Bristol a year or so ago and loved what was going on around the old docks area there. It was vibrant and drawing in tourists. Glasgow is a decent draw for tourism already, so why not feature the river in more of it? If any one group have lacked imagination, it's been successive...

    River Clyde / Glasgow City

At the time I went up river, Bell's bridge was broken. The whole subject around use of the river and it's surrounding land is the subject of another thread, but in my own opinion has been an opportunity squandered by successive GCC administration's. Many other European cities have vibrant...

    River Clyde / Glasgow City

Did it a couple of years ago and managed to berth at the pontoon in the mouth of the Kelvin. Tied it in with a visit to the tall ship and the transport museum. I dont think you'll get beyond Bells Bridge these days with mast up

Going round the Mull of Kintyre.

I came round yesterday after an early start out of Campbeltown, lazily tacking my way down to Sanda Sound in no hurry. Entered the sound about an hour before hw Greenock and was making good speed over the ground (no wind by this stage so was motoring). Kept well inshore heading for Deas Point...

    Gluing down solar panales

3M VHB tape is the bee's knees. I used it for attaching semi flexible panels on the wheel house roof of previous boat. You only get one chance to stick them down in the right place though!

    Overnighting onboard in Scotland

I haven't read the latest version of the regulations (as opposed to the guidance), however on Friday, Saint Nicola (blessed be her name lol) said during her CV briefing that we 'must not' stay overnight. May have been a slip of the tongue. Of course everything is broad brush as ever, but my own...

    Pressure Cookers

I recently bought a stainless steel 3 litre one for the boat, having never owned one before. Have only made soups so far, but very easy to use and so quick. I store mine in the oven when not in use.

    West via the MoK

I started from the outlandish port of Greenock last time! ;)

So summer is coming what’s the plan

May - probably kick around the Clyde, Bute, Arran and Loch Fyne. June, depending on what's allowed, maybe Ireland or alternatively round the MoK and up the west coast. Have planned 4 to 5 months off work, so no great rush.

    Yacht legs :- pricing

I had a pair that came with previous boat (LM27). I used them once on a beach on Bute for a mid season scrub, but in my normal cruising grounds, I wouldn't normally have had a use for them. Certainly very handy if you cruise in places that dry. They were very easy to deploy and once adjusted for...

Engine trials - we have the wrong prop

Any black smoke from the exhaust if you run it flat out in gear? Does it rev to maximum in neutral?

Engine trials - we have the wrong prop

I have a Beta 20 on my 30 footer. It seems happiest around 2500 rpm, with a max of 3600. In flat water, at 2500 the boat is doing around 5.5 knots and at 3000 it's doing about 6.5. I don't know whether your issue lies with the prop or not, but maybe the above figures will help in some way.
