My first foray into the Motor Boat Forum.

I have no predjudice against motor boats, my club is a yacht and motor boat club, sharing officers sometimes a MB will accompany a mainly raggie cruise and I've never heard a disparaging remark from either contingent - we're good mates, however when I start reading some threads here there is...

    Canoes and Kayaks

From first experiences with Canadian canoes at Bedford in 1940, boats have always been a priority, but my mother's family had been sailors & fishermen on the N. Yorkhire Coast since time immemorial. I was not flush, but first dinghy a Heron, sailed off S E Kent, but from teaching started...

The NEW tender and outboard MUD DISASTER... Got to love outboards !

Yesterday I started my Yamaha 5, 2 stroke of '84 vintage, it was on the boat, had not been winterised, most of the petroil in the detached tank has been there since pre-2004 - when I bought the boat. It started easily - it was a steel petrol tank - almost as good as a Seagull - don't tell Dillon!

    Could be boatie: mouse deterrence

Sounds like my late loved one, when she once caught sight of a mouse, one saw the bloodlust in her eyes its minutes were numbered.

Anyone want a FREEBIES holiday / delivery trip ?

Having just plodded through this interesting thread, I am reminded of St Paul's shipwreck on Malta in winter - he warned the skipper that it could result in major loss and possibly loss of life.

    Not falling Overboard

Thanks folks for suggestions - NB: 1) no sidedecks alongside cockpit, 2) small forehatch possibly available, 3}climb out of cockpit is possible but not easy, 4} bum shuffle is the likely way forward, 5) no toe rails. 6) short tether is the way to go. 7) some handholds. Mind you Shane Acton...

    Not falling Overboard

Boat - 19' sloop, self furling foresail, no lifelines, side decks 1" to 7", good pushpit & pulpit, excellent deep reaching telescopic transom ladder, jackstay from forward central cleat to base of mast and then to front of cockpit. Self - venerable with arthritic knees and now very averse to...

    Volunteer Border Force

I'm sure any of us - known to each other, who are around our harbour from day to day, could do the job occasionally without officiousness and maybe have done so, I wouldn't know. Certainly there are those ashore who might become insufferable.

    Just an observation...

Having a 19' Caprice, it's a case of bucket and chuck it, complicated by 'frequency' - I've a bladder cancer- but I'm still quite well, so Tema are a wise precaution and always a careful look out.

    RNLI again?

I am not a great fan of all of the rnli's policies or decisions, but I'm with them in this.
