    Repairing Dubarry Boots

I will give them a ring, love the fact that they can repair and rebuild - exactly what companies should be doing! Thanks for the link.

    Repairing Dubarry Boots

Hi, thanks for your reply, yes I think it is worth going to local shoe repairers. I’ll post back on here if I have any success!

    Repairing Dubarry Boots

Thanks to everyone for replies. My boots are around 10 years old, and as someone mentioned they changed the way they were made and mine unfortunately cannot be repaired. Poor customer service didn’t help with my frustrations, also disappointing ethics in these days of recycle and re-wear etc...

    Repairing Dubarry Boots

Have finally (after 2 weeks of chasing!) been told by Dubarry that they can’t repair the soles to my Dubarry sailing boots. They have had very little wear and the sole is coming away. They also said no cobbler in the U.K. can put a sole on them. Very disappointed as they weren’t cheap, seems...

Anyone crossing the Atlantic this year?

Just go to the website www.theca.org.uk and look under crewing. I think it's £25 per year to register as crew but we've had crew from there and it works well. We've recently met skippers who have got crew through crewseekers and they were also pleased. Good luck!

Anyone crossing the Atlantic this year?

You could join the Cruising Association, they have a good forum for skippers looking for crew, and crew looking for skippers.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. We are going back to Sopramar at Lagos, hopefully it will be a quick fix.

Lift out recommendation in Algarve or Andalucia, Spain

We are in El Rompido, Spain, just across the border from the Algarve. We need a lift out and some help with our rudder, we think it's the rudder bearings, the rudder has gone very stiff (Rival 38, tiller steering). There is a boatyard in El Rompido which is well written about in the guide but...

    Atlantic Crossing Group 2016-2017

If you are planning an independent Atlantic crossing this could be the group for you. The ACG promotes the sharing of ideas and information on crossing the Atlantic from East to West. *The ACG was established by 17 boats moored in Marina di Ragusa on the island of Sicily in 2013 when they...

    Retire and live aboard

Exactly, it's not a holiday, it's a lifestyle. However when you are out and about you are generally in holiday places with all the temptations of nice restaurants etc. We remind ourselves we never ate out before we lived aboard and therefore we don't now. Food is cheap and plentiful here in...

    Retire and live aboard

Sandyman, love your post. All I would add is that if you are living aboard with partner, both must have 'signed up' to the plan, lifestyle and the budget. Staying in marinas overwinter brings pressure to eat out, go for a coffee, socialise, and if one of you feels deprived by not eating out...

Good luck! It will be worth it, we left in April 2015 and have had a great time, thoroughly recommend it. Our blog is www.rivalady.wordpress.com, feel free to come back to us if you've got any questions, and get a good Project Plan in place, the weeks will quickly disappear and it will be...

    Navtex on the Portugese Coast

We are sailing down the Portugese Coast and haven't picked up any Spanish or Portugese navtex transmissions since leaving La Coruna in June. We still pick up the occasional message from Niton but we've picked nothing up from La Coruna, Monsanto or Tarifa. We have a Nav6 and just wondered if...
