mold on sails

After a trip to Tesco which one did you use? The ones I looked at had dire warnings on things not to use them on or listed things to be used on like enamel, stanless s etc

    reparing damaged rubbing

Can any one give me any pointers as to how to repair a damaged teak rubbing on a VirgoVoyager. Its towards the stern and has lifted (bent out) away from the hull pulling out/braking off one screw (are they screws, could they be rivets?). Two other screws are probably pulled as well. I was...

    mold on sails

I know its probably been asked before but here goes for this year. We have, due to inability to user the boat much this year, green mould on the sails. The main I have washed, it only had two areas. However my cleaning, soap powder and Vanish on the mould, left stains. The jib is more marked and...

    Honda BF2 lock

We are going to put the boat into a marina for the rest of the year. But not wanting to lug the outboard about intend to leave it on the boat. But its a Honda BF2 which the local chandlery cant supply a lock to fit on the cheap bars fitted on it. Could some one let me know a type of outboard...

    getting silicon sealant off

Thaks, one thing I think I will not use is the silican sealent remover sold by Unbond, they let me know it will damage gel coat! At least I found they are very fast at providing information.

    Yanmar starter problems

I found a lose connection in the main 3 way power switch was causing problems once. Being lose it had arced and was in need of a good clean. When reassembled with contact grease went OK afterwards.

    What glue for cabin lining?

We used No Nail it worked OK but its not a contact one so you have to work out ways of keeping stuff in place. Rather than foam backed vinyl we also used foil backed radiator polystyrene (in roles from B&Q) with vinyl then stuck on top of that.

    Advice on refixing windows needed

Thanks- yes I had done some searches-indeed spent most of the morning doing so. Most information found is dealing with framed windows-my ones are screwed over window cut outs in the cabin. What I'm looking for is advice on sources of sealant. As far as I can see due to the softness of the...

    Advice on refixing windows needed

I would be very great full for some suggestions. We replaced our VergoVoyger windows 3 years ago. They are screwed onto the cabin with a sealer. Unfortunately our window supplier failed to drill the screw holes over size to enable larger screws to be used. So the original ones had to be used. I...

    Globe blue and ASAP

And if they had read the covering letter giving the details of use of impeller and engine and that it hadn't been run dry they wouuldn't have come up with such a lode or rubish!

    Globe blue and ASAP

Yes I had heard about that problem. I tried the Globe ones as they were meant to run dry and were cheaper than the Yanmar impellers. Well you learn form such errors and Ill be sticking with the individually more expensive Yanmar ones rather than using the individually cheaper Globe that need...

    Globe blue and ASAP

I posted earlier this year on problems I had with Globe Blue impellers used in my 1GM10. At last I have heard form ASAP who said the impeller had failed due to either running dry or an old warn pump. I fear b*****s was my reply, its an engine new in 2001 with 160hr clocked when this impeller...

    Yanmar instrument panel connector

Why keep it, when I added a tachometer I just cut the multiple plug off and used crimp connectors to join the wires together. If you use bullet ones they will be fully insulated. The advantage is you can disconnect at the joins, the disadvantage is more to go wrong. The most secure way of...
