Sounds perfect. I did it to dry sail my old 12foot clinker dinghy years ago. Works a treat. It was a new thing from america for dry sailing older boats so thought why not. Looking for a new dinghy just now, and will do exactly the same again to its replacement.
I have E126 Even Chance, and I sail it in the northern waters of Scotland all by myself.
It sails very well indeed single handed, and is very easy to manage.
If I want to go hell for leather.... I sail with two, one for the headsail and me on main and tiller. Goes like stink! 4 up is a bit...
What a bawbag.
If you want to use any of my aerials, feel free, but its only the North Highlands really so far....

Agree that those cradles just havent been thought out at all. Luck is definately on their side...... so far.
Angle supports are needed to support the sideways loading on the legs initially, as are keel supports to stop the keel moving sideways. Ive seen failures in both respects, and its not...
Lots....
John O Groats, Wick, Lybster, Helmsdale, Cromarty, all non-drying as you head South. Then there are the smaller drying out harbours in between, some with depth at low-water at the end of the piers. The choice is huge.
The Moray Firth is full of wee fishing harbours, and if your...
Ive never used the pass myself, as I mainly day-sail or stay on the hook for free if possible. Its a great idea though. Things up here arent all regimental, theres always a bit of leeway on everything, as youve seen with the extra days if needed. :-)
Thats pretty much right aye. The new marina is a lot better that the quay wall yachts had to use before, but its still very much a commercial harbour alright.
Wick is now a proper leisure marina, with full facilities and friendly helpful service. Folk regularly leave boats there and head back...
Im local. Theres nowhere really on the North Coast to leave a boat.
Scrabster (Thurso) has a new marina with links to the South. If you carry on through the Pentland Firth, Wick also has a fine marina and excellent links. These are your best bets. Any questions, just ask.
Wick and Scrabster...
Good luck with fixing it up. Im sure you will have loads of fun in the process. Some dont realise the pure enjoyment that can be had from rescuing something like this and restoring it. If you can do it all yourself, and it sounds like you can, then the only costs are materials and fixings etc...
Xiomi Yi Action Camera is the one to go for. Its got the same sensor and processor as the Go Pro, but a fraction of the cost. I use mine in its waterproof case, and it takes brilliant 16mp stills, and 2K video.
The SJ cams are ok for the cost, but the Yi is comparable to cameras costing way more.
Had my first short daytrip on Sunday, other time pressures put a stop to my sailing fun. Sailed from Wick, North round Noss Head and into Sinclairs Bay in an F4-5. What a nice wee day out I had. Found out either my battery or the solar panels are knackered, and the stereo stopped working for the...
I would have dropped the hook and put on some nice loud Hard-House or other equally bass-filled dance music and enjoyed my lunch. I would have enjoyed seeing him hop about, better than any Tv program.
I do the same during lunchtimes when I eat in the car, and someone pulls up right next to me...
I use my Yi Action Camera (like a gopro but better and cheaper) in its waterproof case on a cheap selfie stick to check the bottom of the hull. The wifi signal for the live video feed works to my phone until its about a meter underwater. (The signal might have been propogating up the metal...
