    Online shopping for boat products

Their standard shipping costs of €8.95 allow for up to 30 kg of merchandise. Far better than those of many local online stores. No wonder that they are getting customers from all over the EU. Regards,

    Online shopping for boat products

Buying items online in the Bremen chandlery, 2500 km away from home, is actually cheaper for me than buying them online in local chandleries or in local physical shops; not only the price of the item is lower, but the post charges are too. If local chandleries want to be competitive in a global...

    LED tricolour

The bulb, being only slightly larger than ordinary bulbs, is easy to fit; the socket is not, believe me! Regards,

    LED tricolour

Exactly the same! It is a Mast Products bulb: Home - Mast Products Be confident that it is RFI-free. Mast Products is a Dutch company, so you shouldn't have any difficulties to buy from them. Regards,

    LED tricolour

None of the above... The existing socket base must be replaced with the one which comes with the bulb, and this is something one simply cannot do while dangling at the masthead: awkward stances, too many little screws and pieces to fall... better not! What I did was to remove the whole fixture...

    LED tricolour

I replaced the tricolour fixture several years ago, but I found by chance that the bulbs which were issued with the fixture produced RFI to the VHF, making it "deaf". I then replaced both the tricolour and the anchor bulbs with the ones sold by Boatlamps. RFI disappeared, but the tricolour...

    Here: Which replacement VHF

    Which replacement VHF

Standard Horizon is one of them. They will give you a code to unlock and erase the MMSI upon proof that you are the legitimate owner of the equipment.

    Which replacement VHF

Quite on the contrary! There are a few - just a few - brands (see below) that have perceived the nonsense would discourage potential clients, and acted accordingly.

    Which replacement VHF

I would definitely keep off any VHF equipment whose MMSI couldn't be changed without removing it from the boat. Having to send VHF sets to the manufacturer for an MMSI change was an unnecessary requirement imposed by the US Administration that Europe accepted without a whisper. There are some...

Spanish Government trying to interfere with other nations' boat safety regulations

There's no point in comparing MGN 538 with the Spanish Orden. MGN 538 is aimed at giving advice and guidance, whereas the Orden is aimed at enforcing a very strict regulation, fines included.

Spanish Government trying to interfere with other nations' boat safety regulations

I feel you are right, but we should take two points into account: - If the Spanish boating legislation was ever applied in the UK a lot of boat owners would for sure make themselves heard. AFAIK, the Spanish regulations are by far the toughest in the EU. Has this produced increased levels in...

Spanish Government trying to interfere with other nations' boat safety regulations

You will if this Orden Ministerial is ever passed. It is not that you are safety aware - most of us sailors are; it is that the Spanish Government will force you to be safety aware their way, not yours. Just take a look at the draft. The link is in the very first post of this thread.

Spanish Government trying to interfere with other nations' boat safety regulations

Yes, there is quite a lot to be said about that! It is not only a discrimination between Spanish citizens and foreigners, but also between foreigners residing in Spain and abroad, and even between foreigners who own a boat and skipper her themselves, and those hiring a skipper residing in...
