Oh, that it should be that simple. I shall certainly check that now that you mention it, but it only seems to leak whilst under way - so probably not that.
I have an irritating oil leak (ATF) on my Hurth 15 RV gearbox. I have not yet managed to see where it is leaking from, but presumably it is from one of the input/output seals. Has anyone experience or advice on tackling this job? It is the version with the extension for the V. drive attached...
I have started to get very rapid wear on my cutlass bearing - now having to change it every season.
I can't see any misalignment of the P- bracket, nor bend in the shaft by eye, though as yet, I can't say for certain that this is not the case.
Has anyone else experienced this and, hopefully...
To satisfy a niggling curiosity, does anyone know the name of the British yacht that lost to the yacht 'America' in the first Americas Cup race in 1851?
Google doesn't seem to know.
When anchored in a nice quiet spot it's always nice to drop a line over and pull up something tasty for the pot, but I find the problems start after a day or so when any fresh bait on board starts to get decidedly anti-social with regard to its BO.
Has anyone found a good solution? Are the...
I have checked for fuel contamination etc. Is it possible to have the problems you mention and still hav good starting from cold and with even running at higher revs? I only have problems when returning to tick-over with a well warmed engine.
After a good hard run, my engine exhibits signs of being too far advanced. Ie stops on tick-over, and then appears to fire before TDC requiring starter plus domestic batteries to spin her over for re-restarting. None of the above occurs when starting from cold. I have checked that the engine is...
I moved my lazy-jack blocks on to the spreaders. Being concerned about undue strain on the spreaders I only dared put them about five inches either side of the mast; however just this extra ten inches of width made an enormous difference, especially when hoisting single-handed.
This may be shutting the stable door after ... etc, but I am often surprised how few people seem to know that just plain meths is a good solvent for cleaning up Sikaflex, (one of the messiest substances known to man) but, of course, only before it sets.
Pampas.
Many thanks for your reply. When you say 'the four bolts nearest the prop', do you mean the ones visible in the picture? Also, which exactly are the ' shaft nuts'? Do you mean the large nut on the end of the shaft? I was not proposing to remove the engine; as this is a V-Drive...
