I know they work, even some of the latest gen IMOCA boats have been modified to scow but by god they are ugly.

I've always wondered why the cruising fraternity has always stuck to having the forestays on the centre line. And why not have two forestays alongside each other, side by side. No need for racing rules to apply, and a similar arrangement up the mast. Much easier to tack one or the other, than having them inline.

I've been watching the Sailing Frenchman YouTube channel recently and he has one of these ready for the Mini Transat:

With a boat like that, one must have colour-matching Crocs on the feet...... as part of the 'crew uniform'.
