There is a brush to clean the copper sleeve after removal of the injector to make sure you get a good seal

I brought the copper sleeve cleaning kit which makes the job a lot easier and it stops any of the crap going down in to the pistons .Just a shame that you only need to use the kit once but well worth buying .

Injectors all back in and running great!

Did think about a sea trail but seeing as the ferry won’t go out....thought better of it :):):)

My thanks to Ian and volvopaul for all their help. Nearly got all the bits to make an extractor tool so will post the details soon. I’m making 2 so happy to lend out should anyone need it.

Look forward to it! You’ll need a beer at some point no doubt. I’ll stock up. No “little” jobs...I promise :):):)

Is the car going to be painted green too :D

As promised, details of the injector removal tool I’ve made up.

The tricky part is finding a fitting for the injector thread. It’s M14 x 1.5 Not a common sizing but I found these coupling nuts which work well.

The tubing is 32mm OD with a 2mm thickness 300mm long
M14 x1.5 threaded bar 300mm long.
M14 x 1.5 locking nut and flange nut
2 x m14 washers.

I cut the tube and thread bar in half so now have 2 tools :)

I put the connector and locking nut onto the bar. I have no welding skills!

This leaves plenty of thread for going onto the injector

The finished article.

Screw the bar/connector onto the injector, tube over the outside of the injector, washer, flange nut and get turning the flange nut to pull the injector upwards.

Hope this helps someone and happy to lend out. Ian’s MK1 is better.....so he told me :):):)

Just to finish this thread, if you think “is it worth having injectors serviced”..........oh yes!

Now 2800 revs (rated WOT) and 27.5 knots! The difference is massive in my case. The boat could always do 25 knots but it somehow felt hard work. My 20 knot cruising speed has gone from 2500 revs to 2300. It sounds small but it’s made a big difference.
