Jut one question...when they go back in, is there a special £400 ounce volvo lubricant to coat them with?

Yes! Worth pulling. Mine did 3500 hours although they were rebuilt in 2009 but unsure of the level of rebuild apart from the photos of the engines bering removed from the rear sliding doors with a hiab.

Yes you need 400 quid an ounce volvo lube. It's called snake oil!!

How will you clean them and set the pressures? I ask because mine are still smoking slightly.

They are going to PB Asher, Southampton.

All will be tested first (so I know whether I had issues or not) then fully reburbished inc new Bosch nozzles and set up correctly for the application. I think marine engine applications are set differently vs the road going equivalent.

You could send them in for testing and fix what they find sort of thing. For me having gone to all this effort (including getting an education in tool etiquette:) ) Im just having them all done regardless.

Now you are sorted with a pattern for a successful removal tool - you could always go down this route it is not that difficult - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIESEL-I...m=262714334185&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042

I like your thinking but I’m hopeful I won’t need to worry for a good few years. Some stuff best left to the pro’s.

I’m ordering bits to make my own removal tool based on Ian’s top work. I’ll post all the info on this thread when I’m done.

I’ll double check with them they do. Thanks Paul

Is there supposed to be a new copper seal for the nozzle or is it the sleeve that makes the seal?

How many boats I can see behind me on startup? :):):)

It wasn’t that bad to be honest. I’ll let you know the differences I find.
