Cherbourg restaurants?

Any recommendations for places to eat in Cherbourg?

Last trip over we really struggled and ended up eating in a cafe type place where we sat right next to a busy road. I'm not looking for Michelin star fine dining, but a half decent place to relax after a day at sea with a plate of seafood and a bottle of wine would be ideal.

Le Vauban just on the corner by the inner harbour would get my vote.

+1 for Le Vauban. Consistently good - been several times over the past few years.

We have often eaten at Le Faitout, and never been disappointed. Not far from the marina. There's also a very good pizza restaurant almost next door if you want something cheaper.

Le Plouc 2 is worth a sniff. Stumbled across it by accident after a long days sail over thinking it would be Cherbourgs finest pizza or kebab that night. Good French food, reasonable price and good service. Last visit was a few years ago though.

La Pizza, on the front of the inner harbour gets my vote

You should also try the yacht club in the marina(above the shower block)it has been very good indeed for many years & the food is always excellent .

Its been a couple of years but The Vauban was always my first choice.
