Hi all. Just starting to plan my retirement, a few years away yet.

Looking around YouTube I came across the channel 'Lady K Sailing' I know it's personal opinion but it is informative to a point as its a discussion type channel rather than the 'look how we are having a great time' type channel. The only problem is that it is very East Coast America orientated.

I just wanted to know if there was a European orientated channel with a similar discussion format.

Maddison Boat works for rare, but high quality films; they restored a classic yacht and sailed across
The pacific. Videos are sporadic though

Alluring Arctic ; sailing in the far north through winter. Just refurbished an alloy exped yacht and soon to do the NW passage. Some good skiing footage also involved

Sailing magic carpet - he is a master boat builder, she is a wonderful story teller. Their sailing based vids are exceptional but their doing a boat build at the moment.

Follow intrepid bear ; a very relatable ex copper couple going for a “gap year” after retiring early

SV blown away : ex forces now living on a modest boat drifting through Greece.

Also a good search of this forum will reveal several threads on the topic.

A couple of contrasting sailing videos

How to make the perfect YouTube video

YouTube, again.

Can't think of any really; you make a good point. I think there is a niche for someone with good, independent, up to date, industry knowledge to get stuck in with analysis that is not the usual air brush job.
I always though Lady K was a bit of a wind bag but, looking again, I can see he has some unusual content.

Never seen "Midshipmen" but but it looks a good tip from Ammonite, esp if you are looking to do some long distance sailing.

.

Useful (not just bikini count) ones for me are:

Alluring Arctic - good practical discussions and cold climate sailing and ski touring in one, whats not to like.

Sailing Yacht Florence - unassuming and real sailors with a good story dicussing the issues sailing round the world.

Sailing magic carpet - really good boat builder and wood worker.

RAN Sailing - Swedish couple building a 50' boat from scratch from wood and glass.

Project Atticus - very good at all the boat maintenabce and upgrade stuff, does good research and presents his learning on the job well. This was the first YT channel that I watched when looking to use Stayloc fittings for the first time. Really good production too.

MJ Sailing - building a 42' cat from a basic kit, informative for glass work.

There are others which are entertaining in their own way, Sailing Sweet Ruca, Erik Anderaa and if you want soft porn, Sailing Doodles!

I am surprised no one has mentioned Concerto of this Parish -he has useful ones if you plan a trip to a new port potentially or of course if you happen to be holidaying by car to an area and looking for attractions.
I recently watched Tailors Travels which has some nice shots of Bequia and grenadines etc and generally a good presentational style . If you are looking for shots from colder regions of Scottish islands etc then Daniel @ Sailing Polaris on his Bavaria 46 which started out from Haslar is insightful if you are planning visits there . As mentioned sailing RAN in their Najad 46 shown much about sailing with very young crew and he has a good technical knowledge

The problem is - none of the many recommendations above are anything like the channel the OP cites (a boat review/opinion/‘magazine’ channel IIRC)!

And no I don’t think there is a euro equivalent (yet) - but nor would I trust one amateur creator’s opinion on what boats to buy!

NBJS : no bullshit just sailing - for those interested in North Sea, Norway, Iceland, Scotland.
It's noticeable how some channels have gained sponsorship as their popularity has grown. You start to notice new gear, equipment, oilies etc.

The earlier "Adventures of an old sea dog" were worth watching but not so much now.

I've given up on sailing channels! They get a bit boring after a while or are all about to die due to having a tiny first world problem that they take 20 minutes describing in minute detail when a three second sentence would be enough.

My current YouTube rabbit hole is the work of farriers and I don't even ride horses.

NBJS even has a 'love interest' in a very skimpy bikini.

Sailing with Thomas is very good. A Norwegian guy sailing a big Bavaria 55 solo around the Caribbean and now into the Pacific

I suspect the market for YouTube sailing videos is much larger outside the world of people who can sail/own boats… and quite possibly the same is true in the horse world.
