The problem is - none of the many recommendations above are anything like the channel the OP cites (a boat review/opinion/‘magazine’ channel IIRC)!

And no I don’t think there is a euro equivalent (yet) - but nor would I trust one amateur creator’s opinion on what boats to buy!

I agree, as per post 10.

It would be great if some someone with industry knowledge could open up about what boats are actually selling and to who, used new boat residuals, selling prices for older boats, common faults, snags, warranty issues, design trends, moorings, marinas, accessories and general insider gossip.

They might have to work incognito :)

I suspect the market for YouTube sailing videos is much larger outside the world of people who can sail/own boats… and quite possibly the same is true in the horse world.
YouTube farriers, what ever next. Spent my life with farriers and never found one with time to film themselves. There is always someone out there with far too much time to waffle on about themselves.
I’ll watch old hands with wise words other than that it’s just utter rubbish, oh apart from Concertos and my one unprofessional attempt for my own viewing of course. Oh Twister 28 is ok.
It’s when they start preaching which they inevitably do you just switch off.

I rather enjoy Aquaholic, bit too Motorboaty for me, but he does sailing boats occasionally. Latest one where he just motored out in his boat anchored, had a play, then went home, seemed to sum up boating quite well!

Aquaholic was filming on a Princess in King Point, Plymouth when I was there. I was very tempted to sing at the top of my voice 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin' at the top of my voice as I had forgotten to bring my bagpipes down that week.

Some are good for collecting bits of useful info, others for clear water views of bums hanging out of bikinis. Amazing how many have lots of free items given to them.

Just discovered Chasing Latitudes. He really lays into the bikini/patreon/clickbait crowd. I love the mantra "bikini, cry face, drama" as keys to You Tube success. Had to go back and look at other favourites and see if they were guilty of the same tricks.

I’ve not watched him but just had a quick look at his Chanel. There’s a huge degree of double standards if that’s his mantra as there’s a fair few bikinis on his thumbnails, plenty of clickbait titles and it looks like he has 84 patreons paying him some sort of monthly subscription!

YouTube creators have a choice - make the contents THEY want to make and live with whatever revenue you get from that OR make the content that significant volumes of people will click / watch, and adapt to what the “MARKET” want. (The market is of course not homogenous - different users want different things, but numbers and advertiser demographics will mean some market types are better for the creator than others).

Always snigger at the No Bullsh*t Just Sailing channel name. It feels quite the opposite.

My favourites are Pandorak - we must be due a new video soon - and Tupaia. Both free of inane narration and drama. Some really nice camera work and music too.

Travels with Geordie, a bloke living in Canada cruising, repairing, fixing up wooden boats.

He is responsible for not only for getting us back into boating but also responsible for giving me the courage to take on woodworking tasks I would never have dreamt I had the ability to do 😊

Interesting that no one's mentioned Uma.

I found them very interesting at the beginning, but less so as time went on and they seemed to become less "this is how we do it" and more clickbaity "aren't we cool"

Not yottie, but anything with Ton Scott is worth a look.

Hi,
Ive always found Erik easy on the ear and found his sailing escapades entertaining. I also like he does not hide his frailties. Not sure he comes out with any BxxxxxxT really and in the main hes mostly sailing in any conditions. Still I fully appreciate we all see things a little different. Ive turned off watching all sailing stuff now apart from Erik and Christian Williams.

I’d rather watch Thane Direct. At least they were upfront about what they were about.

Hi all. Just starting to plan my retirement, a few years away yet.

Looking around YouTube I came across the channel 'Lady K Sailing' I know it's personal opinion but it is informative to a point as its a discussion type channel rather than the 'look how we are having a great time' type channel. The only problem is that it is very East Coast America orientated.

I just wanted to know if there was a European orientated channel with a similar discussion format.

🇮🇪 Focussed.
