I know.

I only came across it recently and love it precisely because of the layout, which is so unusual.

I especially like the aft stateroom that opens out to the rear deck area. Would make a fabulous office for me.

Fantasi 44.

'Cos it's the prettiest boat that's a sensible size on the market.

Ok, so it's a raggie, but who cares? Whatever 'floats your boat'!!

Yuk.....thats not a boat its a bloody fashion statement

Boats should be designed for their environment.

Kind of makes everything else look a bit pre-historic doesn't it?

Far from it....makes everything else look more sensible and desirable /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Elling (predictably), or upon early retirement how about something like the Privilege 615 (I guess this is the one you were mentioning last night Derek?).

Wish I could find a better website about the 615, but even the manufacturer's site is 'under construction' (and flash, so you can't link to the right page *sigh*).

Sunseeker portofino 400. 40' so not too much problem finding space in visiting marinas. Lovely looking and quality finish. Huge inside for a 40' boat. Oh, and you can pick a nice shaft drive up for around £140k. I'd prefere plain white hull please.

probably wouldn't be able to afford both a mooring and a lot of visitors fees but could just budget the overall costs.

it would of course come with a suitable tender (ie one with a design speed exceeding that of the mother ship!)

I haven't done the obvious cheat here, to get round your restriction........budget on chartering for part of the year to cover the yeary fixed costs!

I've been asking myself this question for some time now (I'm a bit like that). I don't think it does any harm to have 1 eye on the future /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Still not decided whether a fly or open boat is best for the med, especially considering year round use, but these are the features I'd want.

Open
Fast (45KNTS+)
Room for tender and jetski in garage
3 cabins + crew
Plenty of room in owners cabin/bathroom/shower
Good headroom
Stunning looks
Reasonable range (350M+)

Fly
Reasonably fast (33KNTS+)
Space for 4m+ tender
Clear bathing platform with tender and jetski onboard
Min 3 cabins + crew
Reasonable crew quarters (not just bunks but mess area/galley too)
Plenty of room in owners cabin/bathroom/shower
Good headroom
Reasonable range (350M+)
Electric bimini (or something that isn't crap)
Gyro stabilisers

If anyone can suggest suitable models I'll start saving now.

Think it would have to be something like this ....

ul6large.jpg

Just love the idea of wavepiercing hulls.....

- Fuel cost would depend on use....
- Would live on her... and hence reducing housing cost (and council tax)
- Could fit into harbour and "up here" it is not too expensive
- Insureance would be "managable"
- Maintenance I'd do myself and have Friends who are Diesel Engineers, Electricians etc....

I agree the meridian has an interesting layout, love the way the side decks are raised giving more width in the saloon. Looks like its from the same stable as Carver, I think their lines flow better tho' the Meridian looks a bit awkward around the raised aft deck from the side view, I'd go for the Carver 42 Mariner, much more swoopy.or 46 Aft cabin almost identical to the Meridian.

Re: Your ideal boat - help needed

Sealine T60.

I'd get someone used to speccing a big boat to help me with the detail, so a T60 with better quality (longer lasting, closer pile) carpets, a substiute for the plasticcy table upstairs, the "Number 23" bus handrails, better domestic appliances etc...

I'm sure with a few tweaks, it would all be fine.
