You don’t need to be a millionaire to cross the Atlantic

Yes ,small boats can be fitted out for less and docked cheaper than the now norm of 40 foot.Back in the 1970 the French had those little hard hind sloon called Muscadet
There is a sort of co-operative group that keeps several boats, including Muscadets, that are rented out to members. In Brittany, if I recall.

I'm a newbie, so I struggle a bit with the authentic salty pirate patter at times. The Internyet helps, if you can avoid AI.

With the aid of sailboatdata I'm guessing this "hard hind sloon" jive be:-

"Back in the 1970's, the French had those little hard-chined sloops called Muscadet." in land-lubber speak?

Capsize ratio of 2.15 though. Doesn't seem a very good number pour L'Atlantique, assuming that number means anything.

Was a proposal to revive limited series production, but I dunno if it came to anything.

The renewal of Muscadet

You can buy a model though, and apparently order it any size you want.

Muscadet – Historic-Marine | Model Boat Builders | Mauritius

1750 Euros is a lot, but not too bad if the model were, say, 6.48m long,

Building new muscadets is not such a crazy idea. It is a very popular boat in France, providing excellent fairly low cost class racing. Class rules are framed to exclude exotic sails etc to keep it cheap, and the National Championship gets fleets of 50-80 boats. Some of the regulars in my pub are keen muscadet racers.

Especially if done as a group……with all its benifits
