Why on earth didn't you get a HOCC under the old regime ('signature of the flag officer of an RYA recognised club'). This was then 'grandfathered' into an ICC if you applied in time. You got 'Power' rating automatically as long as boat had an aux engine. All you then need is a CEVNI test if you want to go inland. (Your boat probably too big!). All very gentlemanly and efficient!

I've never been a member of a club, it just isn't my "thing". I've always been a little too independent and outspoken! Ahem! Also I have travelled so much I was never in one place long enough! I suppose I may have joined the Dartmouth club, I was there long enough, but never needed to really. I'll just get somebody "qualified" to come and sail with me for a day and quiz me, then get an ICC, that'll satisfy anybody I need to impress, I suppose, until I need something more.
