Is it just us poor suckers who have taken out a subscription to YM outside UK or what?
My copy of Yachting Monthly arrived yesterday,at least two weeks after it was in the shops, this is the norm and is very frustrating. It makes the classifies ads a bit redundant for one thing and I for one do not intend renewing my sub when it expires. far better just to buy it off the newsagents shelf if a particular issue has anthing that interests you specifically.Lets be honest ,all these sailing mags are just a rehash of the same old thing year in and year out.I speak as one whose attic is likely to collapse at any time.

Ooh Kim, that was an hour and eight minutes after the post.
Granted it was before 9AM, and the day after LIBS, so we will grudgingly offer you a gold star.
Wasnt there a thread earlier where PBO February arrived an last day of 2003?

Me too.

Exactly the same here.

I am not renewing because it doesn´t get here in the post until about three weeks after everyone else has their copy.

Meanwhile I see it in the local shops - and have read it in the shop before my own copy arrives.

Re: Me too.

Exactly my point, and friends who keep their boat on next berth to us have just cancelled their sub.
What amazes me is the effort they make to get people to take out subs like at boatshows with special offers etc and then dont care after that.

Re: Me too.

For my sins I have both PBO and YM delivered.

Maybe they need punters in Essex, but I get mine at the beginning of each month, long before I see them in any newsagents, and I was one of the sad characters who would shop around each month waiting for them to reach the shops.

Re: Me too.

Most people seem to have reliable deliveries. The ones that have issues are usually abroad, or living in strange locations such as Scotland.

Re: Me too.

I used to suscribe to another sailing mag. Like the others here, I got fed up seing it in the shops before my copy arrived so I cancelled my subscription. Net result is that I now rarely buy it at all.

If you live in a part of the UK which is not unreasonably inaccessible, you should receive your subscription copy before it appears on the bookshelves - our subs department has worked very hard over the years to make this so, it wasn't always thus.

If you live abroad, we are in the hands of shippers etc and some of the popular yachting parts of Europe are very inaccessible by land. Even so, most European residents should get a good service with copies arriving about the same time as at the newsagent.

Our subs department is always anxious to here from readers who are unhappy about deliveries so please contact them if you have a problem or call 0845 676 7778 ( 44 845 676 7778 from outside the UK) or email ipcsubs@qss-uk.com.

Thanks James for your concern re late delivery of YM,however blaming the Royal Mail is a cop out.I am in Ireland which is logistically nearer than most of Scotland.
If I send you a letter/magazine/small packet the Irish Post Office will get to any part of UK in 2/3 days using regular post.
My latest YM arrived 10-14 days after I first saw it in the shops locally.

I'm not blaming the Royal Mail. If you are regularly getting this sort of delay contact our subs department. I can't think of a reason for such a delay, but there might be one. I know that there are issues over deliveries to the Republic.
