Yeoman Sport XL

If anyone has bought a Yeoman Sport like me, watch out 'cos there's a huge 3" dead spot down left hand edge. I sent mine back thinking it was a software problem and Yeoman says this is a design fault and they are redesigning product. Not much help if you've already bought it!!
So if you use Admiralty small craft folios you’ll have to position them twice to be able to use whole chart.
Some charts have position ref over dead area, brilliant.
I wasn’t shown this when given a demo, for obvious reasons I guess.
It's in the paper work apparently, after you've paid your hard earned dough.

They weren't much better when they had a faulty batch of chips a few years ago for the regular Yoeman, they could find my address to invite me to buy shares in the company, but couldn't contact me to tell me that the Yoeman couldn't remember charts after the power had been switched off!! They waited for me to complain, then suggested that I mail the unit back to them. Motto, keep the packing box, because you will probably need it.

How wonderfully different was dealing with Garmin - a class outfit!

Have a good go at yeoman I have found them very good when pushed hard enough Should be able to get the new software out of them. My unit failed after many years of trouble free and brilliant service and they replaced the main computer including all the new software at a reasonable cost.

Sammy, I found them to be blunt saying there is a design fault i.e. you can't read a chart down left edge because thats where the gubbins is. The whole thing should have been made 3" wider or made in such a way as to not interfer with chart area.
Tough when you already bought it.

Its a good system and I like using paper charts in preference to chart plotter plus there is no alternative. So I'll just have to move chart and recalibrate each time I need travel to left hane edge of charts. Good init!

Yes I agree. I've got a Magellan 320. It and the company are brillient. Pity about Yeoman.
