Hi all im new here hope I've posted in the correct thread I've purchased a old yamaha 40fm 6E9 301646 but I can't find anything with the serial numbers hope someone can help cheers
Should try the mariner website?
Hi. On the transom bracket there should be a tag plate with serial number and model type (like you have stated). At the bottom right corner of that there is a letter on its own. That tells you the age. But there are a couple of age charts out there. One is for here and relevant and the other is for elsewhere and not. If you have any pics of the tag and engine I’d be able to tell you more.

Definitely nothing down the bottom right corner of the plate ? Sometimes hard to make out. Just a single letter on its own usuallyThis model hasn't got any letters on the end all I've got is the serial number cheers

Ok. If you can get a picture sent to a message or post, I’ll have a rough idea within a few years of what age she is at least. Had a few and still have a few old Yamaha engines over the years.Nothing unfortunately
