Pulled this outboard up from the bilge on Friday, the first time it's seen the light of day for over 2 years, same old fuel, started second pull, can't ask for better than that!

And it's as light as a feather and unlike any other small outboard I've ever had it does not block the waterways with salt.

Best engine I've ever used, but one little tip. The drain screw hole on the float bowl goes uphill, you need to tip the engine to drain bowl completely.

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

I'd agree, have had a 4 stroke 4 on a bracket on the back of the Boat for 2 years unstarted and un covered.
Started 3rd or 4th pull, must be the viagra in the petrol

Agree with you John. I once bought a new Yam 4 stroke 4hp motor as part a tender+outboard package. It was delivered to my boat and fitted to the davits by the supplying dealer in my absence. I used it happily on a number of occasions over the next few weeks
I visited the dealer a while later to buy some other stuff and he asked me how I was getting on with the new tender. I said fine and he said 'you did remember to fill the engine with oil, didnt you'. Following a few expletives on my behalf, he explained that they always transported 4 stroke outboards with the oil drained out of them and didnt the bloke who delivered it tell me about it!
Anyway, I filled the engine with oil and it worked happily for 3 seasons until I sold the boat. Bloody good outboards those Yamahas, even work without oil

Yep! Totally agree. Superb little workhorses and better paint protection than almost any other make in addition.

Re: Jonah

Lot of skeletons in my cupboard, ljs. I managed to get rid of the shandy onto some gormless relatives at a recent wedding reception
