This thread reads like most other things in society…….I want what that person has and I want it now and I want someone to do something about it now.
There is far too much envy is this country as it is.
Envy? No its really down to people being at least somewhat selfish and ignorant for holding onto something they are really not using. IF they are really not using it. IF it is something which is well known to be in short supply. Denying other people pleasure for no benefit to themselves just because they financially can.

Who said cheap mooring? On the Teign I can get a cheap mooring for a sub 22ft boat now but a more expensive mooring for a more expensive boat big enough for my family is a multi year waiting list. The wait would effect everyone equally so your assumption it just affects skinflints and passing fancyists makes no sense. It feels like you're arguing for the sake of it though. On the one hand you think mooring management might be a problem for being lazy then its the prospective tenants fault for not uprooting their lives just to get a mooring somewhere less southern. I think this thread has raised a valid point really. Something should be done!!!!!!! It won't of course.

Just back from the potting shed so have I missed anything❓

In an area that is well blessed for buoys, moorings and club and marina berths so this discussion is somewhat academic.??

Picking up on the last line on the previous thread - someone needs to do something - no risk of that happening.?

There is a basic human pleasure is ownership. Usage is another issue.

Take it a step further and why are most old people living in houses that we all know are in short supply….they should just move along to the care home as quickly as can be….who on this thread live in houses with large gardens that could be developed and with unused bedrooms ?

No need to clutch your pearls quite so enthusiastically.

Property may may well be 9/10 of the law but property ownership isn't some ultimate right that trumps all else. Its the job of govt and of regulation to channel human activity into the direction of the perceived common good - which may well be at the expense of a few individuals. A topical example would be compulsory purchase of houses to make way for HS2. Another example would be the flooding of valleys with villages in them to create new reservoirs such as Ladybower in the peak district.

Clearing a few manky old unused boats off moorings is hardly a Stalinist purge no matter how loudly the libertarians amongst us might scream.

I know you sail boat guys can be a tad entitled but comparing someone getting a cheap mooring to a major government infrastructure project is taking things a bit far even for you lot :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
