Personal Independence Payments are given to help disabled folk live a more normal life - this may even enable some injured folk to return to work. Clearly the poor lady was not that lucky though i am not sure why her husband lost his job or had to give it up (perhaps he is needed in a carer role). The system is abused..
Unless it gets them off benifits..
When my sons spine was smashed 9 years ago he got F all compensation but PIP enabled him to buy undr finance a big auto car with medically necessary soft suspension, and this has now enabled him to set up as a high spec plumber 3 days a week. Although he would rather have his health and mobility restored, the blue badge also comes handy in enabling him to park near clients to minimise equipment moving effort. Dont begrudge benefits to the disabled just because a small proportion may be claiming unnecessarily, and even those are probably economically useless
