My dear wife bought me an annual subscription to Yachting Monthly on 28th October 2021 with the promise of a free bottle of Mary Rose Gin.
The issues of YM have arrived promptly (sometimes twice) but despite numerous calls to Yachting Monthly's staff from the end of December there has so far been no sign of any free gin.
All YM staff she spoke to faithfully promised to send me a bottle of gin within days (or in one case hours) but still no sign of their couriers!
A fiend of mine also has the same problem - YM is quick in taking money but apparently reneging on its free offer? Ironically my friend can actually see the distillery from where she lives and has even offered to collect it personally to no avail.
This sadly does not do the magazine's reputation any good - I am left wondering if this post will appear in the next edition of YM under the usual Scuttlebutt feature!
Anyone else having the same problem?
Rant over...

I have the same issue with Ryobi and their two tools for the price of one offer over Christmas. I registered the purchase on their website in December and chose my second tool which they send you. Not heard anything since and no response to my messages asking what is happening. I don't think companies realise how annoying they are in doing this. I will think twice about buying any Ryobi stuff moving forward. I guess they only ever wanted me to buy one of there products as I probably won't buy any more if they don't honour their offer.

Not a lawyer but, unless the small print says something like "while stocks last", it meets the definition of fraud - obtaining money by deception. Even if it does, "Yeah, we only had a stock of three" wouldn't work as a defence.

They finally got back. Apparently my claim was on hold as I had not paid enough as you needed to spend £99. I got a 10% discount from the seller which they should not have taken into account. Now on its way.

Happy to report that I received my gin personally from the distillery by special delivery after contacting Yachting Monthly editor directly who passed my wife's comment to Magazines Direct. It's just a pity it took from October to March to resolve the issue.

Perhaps all those other couriers that were supposedly dispatched will turn up with empty bottles and rather the worse for wear. A bit like Pooh and the honey jar...
