Perhaps The Portakabin could be a new benchmark for a new breed of punter ?

From the Premier45 website:
The large interior that can sleep 7, features an Interior Design concept designed by Norwegian architect Snøhetta. This includes a stunning Corian kitchen and smoked oak floorboards through which LED’s shine. The LED’s can be programmed to show a static or sequence of colours of the owners choice.

Now that's smokin man!

I expect the xxit brown is acshually Cuban Havana Beige

And, curiously, I would love to play with one for a weekend

They often do boat handling in/out of marinas in various situations, but the boats used are always fin keel jobs.

I would like to see some articles demonstrating techniques for getting a boat such as mine, with a long keel and transom hung rudder with the prop in a cutout, in and out of berths. It would be interesting to see how the "experts" set about it. :D

Friend of mine berthed at Clarence Marina in Gosport has asked for a hammer-head berth, but in certain wind speed/directions still needs the ever helpful marina dory to help. Away from there lateral thinking is key - e.g. race crews seem to spontaneously leap to help when an old long keeler appears at the entrance of Cowes Yacht Haven!

Dunnit. Uncle Tom Cunliffe tried to get my Twister to go backwards in good order. Failed.

Fixed, 2 or 3 blade prop? Standard rudder without extra tail end area to bite? No windvane paddle to play with hanging off the transom ? Crosswind? Grubby bottom? Not enuff fenders or NCB or pints of HSB? ( smiley)

Funnily enuff mine ( ok, with a shorter long keel) goes backwards beautifully, straight as an arrow or even steers omg into 15 knots or more of wind up the chuff, straight as you like. Otherwise, issa de ol' Three Shift Shuffle between reverse and short for'd blasts to kick the bow straight every few boat lengths ....

Go on, you miss it all really....

Was that published? If so I missed it. We had a bet on with a Yachtmaster instructor at our club that he could not reverse a Halmatic after he made some critical comments about our methods of exiting the marina. It was very entertaining seeing him try, and after about 20 mins he offered the opinion that "Your boat is just a bitch!" He had to admit defeat, although he did find that if you could get up to about 4 knots astern there was some response to the rudder, but agreed that was not appropriate in a marina.

I guess that YM staff scan this forum for ideas for the magazine. Does anyone have suggestions for what they would like to see articles on etc?

How about explanation of how the performance of different yacht designs are compared (eg. their TCC rating?) and what this means in practice for a cruising sailor.
This could include tables of ratings for well known designs, past and present, as a guide to their cruising performance.

They do it ....................... by buying a BavJenTeau with a fin keel and spade rudder :)
