Lots of threads re enquirers after insurance, thought we should give some feed back with our broker ,Y Yacht insurance brokers ,
Early this year we were clouted by one of the yachts from a sailing school opposite our marine, unfortunate for them we were on board, after we had managed to untangle them ,they sailed of refusing to give us any of there details,
As we new where they were from we contacted there headquarters and informed the manager of the incident and asked for there insurance details only to be fobbed off with a load of excuses,
We contacted Y yacht insurance who were absolutely brilliant, we were asked to produce photos and estimate of damage, as we did not think to much had been done, ( boat on hammer head so unable to check before returning home)
We left until boat had its annual lift out, some time later, like all things with boats when we got around to getting estimate to repaire the damage, came to more than we had anticipated, we submitted estimate to Y yacht insurance who then sorted claim out with third party , and settled our claim in full,
So anybody looking for insurance for there boat , I highly recommend Y Yacht insurance, nothing is to much trouble, they were on the case all the time, even chasing me up to get things sorted, really great people to deal with.

Good news. I've used them on and off for a few years but not claimed for anything so thanks for the info.

It would be nice to know which sailing school so that we can all watch out for them.

that's good to know, I have insured with them for two years now and YY have had a lot of praise for their terms etc but never seen any claims feedback. Adds confidence methinks.

We moved to Y a couple of years ago and promptly had cause to make a claim (a first for us in circa 15 years of boating). Our experience was as described by the OP and we would (and do) highly recommend them :)

Good to see a good service received. We changed to Y last year and called at their office to sort the paperwork. You got a gut feeling straight away that they were very efficient and decent people. Seems the feeling was right.
