Wow! Now your crew are actually employees - or so says a lawyer!

I think you misunderstood my question.
In asking about the history of participants I was referring to those who had completed the voyage, did they harbour resentment, is it common to feel aggrieved about their place and treatment in the crew?

Everyone I have been in contact with, are ecstatic about their experiences, but probably like most long distance sailors, bloody glad to be back on land.

So all the punters on cruise liners are employees are they ?!

This woman does indeed require a swift kick in the reality regions, rather than resorting to her dubious profession.

It is also a race, with all onboard, wanting to win, so why would they deliberately cause a problem?

Fair point, it's obvious you know how to run a sharp and happy ship. As such you'll know well how easily things can occasionally get out of control in a stressful environment - I mean look at the Kevin Pietersen spat!

All I'm really saying is that none of us know if something untoward did or didn't happen. She alleges misconduct and is attempting to squeeze her claim into the unlimited awards possible for sexual discrimination under employment law. The the first hearing will be a technical one to determine if she can do this.

Then we'll all find out what really happened, and then we can all have a more substantive discussion, no?

Just a lazy bog standard skipper, friction onboard, means more hassle, when there's enough natural hassle already.
Common sense to be aware of any problems & keep on top of it. Aint many Capt Bligh's out there, customers won't accept it these days. I do miss the lash though, ;)

This woman does indeed require a swift kick in the reality regions...
Maybe that's her complaint.

Sports teams are generally very competitive groups, they expect to win and when they aren't they very often round on the weakest member of the group as a scapegoat. This isn't confined to sailing, but in any competitive team event.

A good leader would see it happening and stop it, rather than joining in and giving them a kicking as well.

I understand there are certain 'Establishments' that can cater to your needs, though it may be expensive;):highly_amused::highly_amused:[/QUOTE]

Hang on, i'll just call Max Mosley ;) :triumphant::encouragement:

that is the link to my blog. glad you liked. she is the woman I talk about at the end of the blog, the round the worlder who left in Brest. Clipper should have never let her join in the first place. Their lax ways around "selection" bit them on the arse on this one. I doubt she could fit easily in her boat companionway nevermind help change a sail...but they took her fee regardless...

Good post. What Ian/Seajet seems to want is to commit non-specific violence on some one he's never met for a crime the details of which he cannot know. At least Jerrytug, and I don't have much good to say about him just now, has the nads to spell it out in letters 10ft tall. Pusilanimousness is never attractive.

If your girlfriend told you she was being victimised at work, would you reply "you need a good kick in the genitals"?

Perhaps, when you pit yourself against the elements, the competition and, yes, your own team, things may not pan out as you expected.
However, maybe you should use that as a learning experience and not fall back on others to fight your corner.
If you are beaten, accept it and move on.
