Would you use a lifeline and harness on a motorboat?

The obvious safety point...would be to put the boat engines into neutral before venturing outside if there isn’t anyone else onboard

That's ok on a calm sea but you wouldn't want to be beam on to the swell so I would want enough headway to keep the boat stable.
Going on deck in dangerous conditions on a moving boat ....would being dragged behind on a lifeline be a slow or torturous death ?

I wondered that. Or depending on the length of the lifeline if I fell off the bathing platform and now with waves etc was continually bashed against it since I was attached by the harness. I have seen some argument regarding sailing boats that depending on the length of the lifeline people can be literally dragged along by the boat with their head under the water.
I'm sure there are answers but these issues have come up.

It’s a bit like when seat belts became compulsory....and we all thought we would die in burning or drowning vehicles....or the introduction of motorcycle helmets....although I’m struggling to remember why we thought that was a bad idea

Been thinking about some answers and previous debates , about life jackets.
Why would anyone who believes they cannot fall off a mobo , use a harness.
