Would a 1997 Sealine S37 sell quickly for £55k?

It really is hard to tell and I think depends on luck & timing. 3 years ago, I know of a Sealine S38 (2003) with KAD300's that sold for 75k EURO. Given the cr4p current exchange rate (for us euro people), that translates to £55k Sterling (or thereabouts).

Now THAT was a bargain.

But as I said, it's all down to timing.

BTW, I know for certain as I was offered this Sealine. I decided to go for the Cranchi as preferred the layout / canopy arrangement.

Good example of how prices of boats in the "Med" will affect the UK market ?
Many of us probably regard a 3 hour flight to Spain/ France/France to look at a boat or two as a somewhat more attractive option than a 3 hour crawl on the motorway to a UK marina.
Folks with the hots for getting a bigger better newer boat will be far more interested in the "price to change" as opposed to desperately getting the last drop of current market value for their old boat.
Suspect it takes little more time to get your funds to Nice or Malaga and your new toy on lorry to UK than a totally UK transaction.
If you are thinking of buying ....take a look at the european broker websites.

Would be kind enough to recommend a couple of European broker websites please. Thanks.

The flip side of course is that marketing a boat too cheap makes people think that there is something wrong with it!

Its all a bit self perpetuating isn't it, I asked whats wrong with it answer nothing but then we learn it has Merc' engines so worth less, so some buyers then steer clear of Merc' engines and so the value continues to fall etc....

Agree, some folks are colour Blind but anyone who knows enough about boats will also know that they will struggle to get a similar spec boat for £65k, will more likely be looking over £80 partly due to the fact that the owners have been convinced of the misguided value of Green lol.

Look anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Personally knowing what I do about boats I think £55k is a bargain (but am biased lol)

Brokers have been suggesting £70 as a starting price but they have commission to take off the final price.

We had a new S37 built with the Mercruiser 220 hp engines. To be honest, there was little to criticise. Very smooth running, economical and reliable. I think their poor reputation came from the BMW units they were derived from. This boat sounds like a bargain to me.

Might be worth speaking to EBY as they do buy boats for cash. As do Tingdene at Windsor.

Took us 8 months to sell our last boat so know what its like to have two boats at once.

Good luck

any of the online brokerage websites will do...just remove any country limitations.
Have good look further down the google listings ...some of the smaller brokers will have interesting boats at the lower end on the market.
A broker in Majorca recently listed a Princess thirty five with cummins engines at 26K offers invited .
Have no idea of what was wrong but plenty of room to spend a pounds and still get decent boat.
Got to be worth a look compared with the damp smelly tired scruffy examples being hawked around in Norfolk and the Midlands priced at twice that money .

I don't think there is such a thing as advertising boats or anything else "too cheap" maybe if it was half it's money then people would think it's a scam but A few £k's cheaper than the next usually means a motivated seller who's being realistic.
People will try to bid you down anyway but getting people on the hook in the first place is the main thing and a cheap price usually creates interest
Better to start sensibly low than having to knock lumps off the asking price later
I think you'll do ok with it with the figures you have in mind

Surely given all this free publicity saying you want £55k for it you may struggle to get any more for it.......just a thought!?

Not really - it's not officially for sale yet, and if it goes up for sale, MOST buyers won't have ever seen this thread....

And if OP would sell at that, advertises it at £59k and someone says "but I saw you only wanted £55k for it, I'd have paid that" then you've pretty much got a sale haven't you...
