Got to replace one of my through the hull sea cocks. What would be the best hard wood to use to sandwich the hull? Do I leave the wood bare or treat it with epoxy etc?
Ours are a pad of ply "marine"? and then glassed over. If you are going/have to mangle the existing hole then grind the whole area clean and then you may as well glass in. If the old seacock comes away without damaging the hull then sikaflex the new fitting and bobs your uncle. The through hull "fitting" may be good enough to replace the new valve onto it.
