Woman and two dogs missing after boat crash off Suffolk/Essex coast

But only if you look at it! Having had AIS in last boat I would pay attention to it crossing Dover Straits etc but if just bimbling along in the sunshine on a lovely Sunday afternoon would I be looking at instruments?

But we are all just clutching at straws and making assumptions as there is not enough information to tell us what really happened.

Just very sad.

You would have to be deaf to not notice mine - beeps loud enough to waken the dead!

As truly and desperately sad this incident is I would ask if you could keep this open to help me understand the possibilities of this occurring. Sailing solo I try my best to keep my eyes open for pots and other hazards in this area. I have in the past sailed with people who stick the autohelm on and take a snooze and it has always frightened me (this is no comment on this dreadful incident btw).
The combination of the joy and pleasure of a balmy summers cruise and a sudden death leaves me cold.

I used to own Orca, a beneteau 311, not sure if this is it?

Reports suggest the sunken yacht was 8 to 9m so a little smaller than a 311 assuming the reports are accurate

One of the weekend trot boat skippers at Fambridge has a lift keel Benny (I think it's A Benny anyway) called Orca and I doubt that he's the casualty (no dogs AFAIK)

If you own the BMW Series 6 I know of then you have said you sold your Orca so it is not you who lost your wife.
