Before last weekend, I had 5 weekends on the trot out sailing. It was a real treat and we had some absolutely brilliant weekends, truly memorable for life. I now find loads of "other" things popping up, not least a stint in hospital last week, which went well and meant I could start at home on the "house renovation" list earlier than expected, and then the "on-going work" list is always there and then the "do the last bits to Pipedream" list that couldn't get done before I went in, to get her sold. Ben has been away with school all week, and he has been on a hospital visit too whilst away, so docs orders are for a rest which is clearly important.

This isn't a moan, as we aim to get on the boat AT LEAST every other weekend, and so far the plan has worked out really well, but two weekends in a row !!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

It's called life and balance I know, but how often do you aim to get out, and does it always happen ? ......... with apologies to Guapa and Flipper, no dig intended /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Its a constant pain....

I have therefore declared an extended family wide ban on

- Weddings
- Deaths
- 40th birthdays

- any birthdays
- sporting events
- school fetes
- any hint of joining a club/society of any kind

Hope that sage advice helps...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know how I managed to fit in sailing Flipper! Sailing last evening (as I am on every Wednesday evening) and I was afloat in one way or another 4 of the 5 weekends in May and have been afloat part of each weekend in June. About to go away for 17 days on the 'dark side', then home for 4 days followed by Sea Scout camp sailing on the broads for a week. The funny thing is SWMBO is not moaning about me being away as I am not on THE BL**DY BOAT! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif So I am getting some sympathy at home too!!

Boat ownership - pah - Overrated!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know the feeling!

Last week, no one to play with, so my cunning plan to sail to Scheveningen got cancelled.
This week, helping assemble and run the scout stall at the school summer fair.
Next week... well, may be... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif but not on Wunja.

Sorry CPD my remarks about how great the sailing has been and how nice the weather has been while you have been laid up in bed were totally out of order .. My opologies .. BUT YOU HAVE MISSED SOME GREAT SAILING ..

Glad you have recovered from your stay in hospital .. C u at the Pirate Weekend .. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We went out briefly last weekend because of an event on your list clashing and we are using the boat as a caravan whilst we go to my brothers this weekend but no more sailing until 20th July when we are off cruising because more of those events on your list!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I am still trying to arrange that last bit. Almost pulled it off a couple of weeks back for one of the essex marina fires, and am now considering one job in Le Havre, and another in Zeebrugge. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think I have missed 4 weekends since the beginning of April. One for work, one for a wedding and a couple though lazyness. One was with the boat out of water, but I was still on board!

I've been lucky too - apart from when Black Magic was out of the water for antifouling and maintenance (4 weeks), I've only had 4 weekends since JANUARY that I haven't been able to have at least half a days sailing... :-) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We are finally going sailing for the first time in 5 weekends.

Do count yourself lucky Old Chap.

We will now make up for it.....

Since launching at the end of May I have had a full week, a full weekend, and a Saturday on Board.

I have to miss this weekend and use a weeks annual leave to go down to Cornwall to help our youngest move out of her Uni accommodation and into a rented house.
That will be a string of Dad I really need this, Got to have that /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

There goes the weeks sailing I had hoped to have later in the summer. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Never mind.
Looking forward to Pirate weekend and having some old mates out the following weekend.
Then we are taking my 14month old Grand daughter for a day sail the weekend after that. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh dear, you wouldn't have liked it all today Alan, white horses all over the place, wind blowing straight up the chuff and against the tide, lumpy as hell all afternoon. Bashed around below deck, bloody hard going trying to supp a cup of tea in the cockpit and loads of fun climbing around on the foredeck

and that was on the pontoon /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So far this year, aside from work, my time has been taken up by:
a double dose of family hospitalisation (son and FiL),
bits dropping off the cars,
bits dropping off the house,
demolishing trees and other major gardening projects (major browny points with SWMBO at the time, but they obviously had a time-limit on them),
tending FiL's allotment while he's ill (ongoing),
oh, and son has "discovered" steam trains.

Result: no work whatsoever on either boat for the last 4 months.

Went down to Aldeburgh on a job yesterday, to find that the client had decided to cancel, but not actually bothered to tell me /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
So: free day. Drove up to Hickling Broad and awakened the GP from her hibernation, and got my first day's sail since last October. Way overcanvassed for single-handing (race rig, as some mice had chewed through the cruising main), but had a blast and somehow managed to avoid capsizing. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Suddenly all's well with the world again! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

So far this year I have not managed any weekends sailing but I have managed to sail on all the days in between the weekends.
