Having had to buy a new motor for my existing Kobra windlass recently , I have had to change the control box to a four terminal type to accommodate the two terminal new motor.
Looking at my existing wiring I see the previous installer wired the foot switch feeds using the control box live and earth, instead of taking them back to the battery as shown in the Lofran's wiring diagram.
Do you consider this to be acceptable or should they be as per the installation diagram?
They are protected by a fuse, but the live feed comes off the main windlass feed to the control box.
Could there be any problems with this arrangement?

Thanks as usual for any replies.

As it has a small fuse to protect the light gauge switch wiring, this is perfectly safe and acceptable.

Thanks Rainbow marine and Sailaboutnic. Wonder why Lofran's don't suggest it as the trouble of going all the way back to the battery would be an involved job at the best of times.
Will arrange wiring as before but with better connections.
Cheers
