One of the things we got up and running is Starlink. Will be interesting to find out how it handles going to sea.

Also got savvynavvy to play with on a bomb proof tablet. We will run a chart plot with GPS fixes as well. Have used open cpn for routing suggestions on other yachts but sn looks so much simpler.

I was seduced by the allure of winter sailing one year, so I left the sails on in the full expectation of enjoying wonderful days of cup-a soup sailing on an empty Solent. No of days sailing: 0. That was party because it meant a two hour drive from NW London, but mostly because the number of blue skied days with the right wind and sensible temperatures was vastly outnumbered by the wet and windy ones.

Now I struggle to keep feet and hands warm in the house, never mind afloat, so it ain't going to happen. Going to work on the boat tomorrow and not looking forward to being outside for hours.
Got to admit one of the best trips in 2022 was the first week in December, V cold but high pressure clear skies and sunshine. 5 days of 12 to 15 knot winds and fantastic visibility. But the heating was welcome at night!

I have made use of today’s dryer weather and a two hours’ lull in the wind to take down the sails. November and December were so atrocious that there was no sailing and the coming weeks it won’t be possible for different reasons.
I’m seriously beginning to doubt about keeping the boat in commission next winter.

Way to down size photos is to email them to your self and when your phone asks you what size then pick medium. You can then save/post them.

Good but very cold start. 0730

But up anchor and on diesel dock 0830 all ready for open at nine. Filled tanks and spare cans 414 litres ouch!

Exercised full main and both reefs now beam rearching at 7 knots down bay. Crew very happy. Yay.
