Is it REALLY sensible to abandon perfectly evenly distributed stress over the whole surface of the hull for allowing every gust of wind, major or minor-to-insignificant between now and April to be concentrated on, at best, eight localised spots thereon?

Safer in the water, no idea why boats come out in the winter, can't really work on them and frost etc will hit them harder. Also noticed this yesterday, why do people take their props off?

If banks closed their doors I reckon that the Preveza yards would last a month before they had to shut down to re-group. As I said, it was a risk but I considered it a small risk, so I lifted out. I still do because I think they will muddle through. This is just an academic discussion.

When we overwintered at the middle yard, now known as Ionion Marine I believe, we paid by cheque into a UK bank account. Maybe they forsaw the situation?

So they don't get nicked. If a mile of live cable along a railway line can be lifted, as reported a day or so ago, then a prop must be an easy target.

Worse case they cut your shaft to get the prop.

Cheaper ashore?

Is there much difference in price between leaving say a 10m boat ashore for a few months, and leaving her afloat? In Greece, and in your experience....

I was thinking that when (if) I get sailing in 18 months' or so I might want to come back to UK for a few months, family etc. But thinking about this, perhaps makes sense to come back to UK in July August so as to avoid Med crowds and take advantage of splendid English summer?

Thank you
Graham
