Well we finally got away from Eastbourne on Monday last after an abortive attempt on the Sunday.
I apologise in advance for the photo quality as some silly sod left the camera at home and they are all done on my phone.
We took the 05.00 lock hoping it would be a smooth passage in light airs
Once round Beachy head we had a bumpy ride so decided to have a night in Brighton as the forecast was better for Tuesday. On the way in we saw this monster.
Wednesday saw sunshine and SW2 so off we went again at a little more sociable 0700. Cruised at 28kts and got to the Looe channel in 51 mins.
The sea got flatter and flatter as we got to the Hamble.
Being a Premier berther we decided Moodys was our best bet and had a good night in the Velsheda (formally the dog house).
Next day was sunny too so decided to finish the polishing. I wasnt going to let you lot see my new toy til it was done!
That done it was orft to Lymington. Met up with some pals from Sov harb there and Swmbo emptied me wallet in the clothes shops in the high street.
By this time we had arranged to meet Col back at Moodys for a bit of "turning up the wick" on my Kad43s. A good day was had with Col and me getting into some compromising positions
in the engine room. Fingers still bloody hurt by
the way Col! (ever tried turning over a 6cyl diesel with a 1 ft ratchet handle? OUCH!!) Had a good noisy thrash up Soton water with the engine hatch up with Col balanced over the lumps getting rev readings at full bore. I can report an extra 400 revs for all his hard work, trouble is now I need taller props. Anyone know the cheapest place for 2 sets of B6s? Thanks again Colin and Vicky for a good day and a superb curry that evening.
Sunday saw a thrash over to Cowes to test the newly breathed upon engines. Sadly it was doing SW7-8 and it was all I could do to keep a straight course while pearing through the small spy hole made by the wipers. Glad we kept the cover up. A bit of washing and drying followed.
But the sun came out so another shot of the newly polished boat.
The evening brought a trip up the river in the dingy to the Folly for dinner. Heres the only wake shot---promise!
Shame the meal wasnt as enjoyable as the trip, still, got my money back. Always had good food there in the past I must add.
Looked at the forecast this morning and decided with a 9 coming through tomorrow we would hop over to Port Solent which is where I`m reporting from now.
Saw a Princess V45 thrashing past Cowes as we left and decided to try and catch up. The newly wicked up engines were giving us nearly 38 kts even with the old props and we caught up at the inner swashway at Pompey. It turned out to be "Oujo"
So here we are with a nice shiny boat and too much wind to go any where. Forecast looks ok for friday when I think we will head back to Eastbourne and watch the air show there.
Anyone else trying to have a Solent cruise this week? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
