Well we finally got away from Eastbourne on Monday last after an abortive attempt on the Sunday.
I apologise in advance for the photo quality as some silly sod left the camera at home and they are all done on my phone.
We took the 05.00 lock hoping it would be a smooth passage in light airs

Once round Beachy head we had a bumpy ride so decided to have a night in Brighton as the forecast was better for Tuesday. On the way in we saw this monster.
Earthrace.jpg

Wednesday saw sunshine and SW2 so off we went again at a little more sociable 0700. Cruised at 28kts and got to the Looe channel in 51 mins.
LooeChannel.jpg

The sea got flatter and flatter as we got to the Hamble.
ArrivalatHamble.jpg

Being a Premier berther we decided Moodys was our best bet and had a good night in the Velsheda (formally the dog house).
Next day was sunny too so decided to finish the polishing. I wasnt going to let you lot see my new toy til it was done!
ShinyTransom-1.jpg

That done it was orft to Lymington. Met up with some pals from Sov harb there and Swmbo emptied me wallet in the clothes shops in the high street.
By this time we had arranged to meet Col back at Moodys for a bit of "turning up the wick" on my Kad43s. A good day was had with Col and me getting into some compromising positions
in the engine room. Fingers still bloody hurt by
the way Col! (ever tried turning over a 6cyl diesel with a 1 ft ratchet handle? OUCH!!) Had a good noisy thrash up Soton water with the engine hatch up with Col balanced over the lumps getting rev readings at full bore. I can report an extra 400 revs for all his hard work, trouble is now I need taller props. Anyone know the cheapest place for 2 sets of B6s? Thanks again Colin and Vicky for a good day and a superb curry that evening.
Sunday saw a thrash over to Cowes to test the newly breathed upon engines. Sadly it was doing SW7-8 and it was all I could do to keep a straight course while pearing through the small spy hole made by the wipers. Glad we kept the cover up. A bit of washing and drying followed.

But the sun came out so another shot of the newly polished boat.

The evening brought a trip up the river in the dingy to the Folly for dinner. Heres the only wake shot---promise!

Shame the meal wasnt as enjoyable as the trip, still, got my money back. Always had good food there in the past I must add.
Looked at the forecast this morning and decided with a 9 coming through tomorrow we would hop over to Port Solent which is where I`m reporting from now.
Saw a Princess V45 thrashing past Cowes as we left and decided to try and catch up. The newly wicked up engines were giving us nearly 38 kts even with the old props and we caught up at the inner swashway at Pompey. It turned out to be "Oujo"

So here we are with a nice shiny boat and too much wind to go any where. Forecast looks ok for friday when I think we will head back to Eastbourne and watch the air show there.
Anyone else trying to have a Solent cruise this week? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Well done!
Been getting your text updates OK!
Glad you enjoyed the curry, and sorry about the "injury*

PS When are you going to change your user name to "Fingers Nailer"
(or even finger nailer)

I guess that has a bearing on the fact he keeps nickin' boats at ridiculous prices,

Dick Turpin-Naylor, more like,

nice looking targa Paul, looks expensive /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not that dear Dave /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif and the new lumps are a joy to behold compared to DV`s. Are you about this week? would be nice to meet up for a beer? and a race /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think they are starting to grow back now /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif If you find the tip of a thumb in your pump timing set its mine ok?
Working on the name change. Too many "Flippers" so "Fingers Naylor" has a good ring to it (if you still have em to put a ring on) /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Somehow those 400 revs make up for it /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Is the boat a tri cab 33?

Targa 31 Jez. Try and keep up! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nice little pics Paul, sounds like you're enjoying her so far. You've also done more cruising than most recently. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But where do you stow the dinghy, are you using snap davits?

Looks great. 38kts, thats more like it, should break the 40 kts with B6's.

Mine pulls 3800-3900 with clean bum on B6's... scary tho at that speed (and i dont just mean the fuel!)

Snap davits work just fine, but you will need 2 wedges to fit between the bathing platform and the fittings. Made mine from pieces of nylon block machined, but you could use ally or teak.

Hi Jez. Roger and Col beat me to it on both counts. She is indeed a T31. We looked at the 33 but although being a tri cab the bed in the main saloon coverted to a much larger affair on the 31 than the small cabins in the 33. As the kids are doing their own thing these days we only need 2 cabins anyway. The mid cab is also a good size with 6ft double and seat to put your socks on etc.
Some more ics as you missed the last post.

She was fitted with new drives and Kad43`s in 2005 and had only done 90 hours when we bought her.
Whens the 34 coming home ??

Hi Roger
Thanks but have been reduced to being dragged round the Cascades in Pompey Friday looks ok to go back. May pop round to Sparks for a night on Thursday.
The boat came with Simpson 75 (KG) davits. They work very well with the Quicksilver 270 and on paper should take the Yam 8 as well (Dingy 36KG,Engine 27KG). They have similar extending arms as the ED16s.

Hi Phil
Those figures are with full fuel and water, dingy on the back, and all our holiday junk for 2 weeks on board too. She is getting faster as the beer fridge gets emptied /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thats a tidy boat! I've had two of them in the last 5 years one with Ad41's (was converted from V8 petrols) and another with KAD 42's which was far livelier. Fantastic value for money and superb build quality. Enjoy.

Looks like your having fun...........more fun than we have had in a nautical sense recently!
When you nip into Sparkes, please try not to clout the well positioned Targa 48 that lives behind a well known squadron! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your mount surely looks polished!
Jas.
