I need a new wind vane (not the spinner) for my ST50 after a bird sat on it.
Are they still available or better still does anyone have a spare they want to sell?

Noting the "Plymouth" in your location...there was a guy a 4 years ago who had a big steel boat on the hard at PYH who had an ebay business in old raymarine stuff, part of which was refurbing ST50 wind instruments so presumably might have a vane to sell. Unfortunately don't recall his name (he was all very no-receipt-cash-in-hand) but maybe someone at the Yacht Haven might know?

Still available, but as a service kit including the cups and the vane. About £35 delivered. Maybe buy the kit and sell the cups on eBay?

Corr, I would not complain at that price at all. When I bought my Fulmar, the B&G wind was missing the wind strut. When I enquired about a replacement, I was quoted a price of £625 to £650 delivered, depending on delivery method! Ended up with trawling the web for a number of weeks and found a secondhand one for just over £200. Still an ouch amount, but was cheaper than my plan to replace all my instruments.

The service kit isn't the entire strut - just the little plastic vane and the little plastic spinner.

Go to B&Q and buy tin snips, aluminium sheet, brass solid rod and aluminium tube. Cut a thread onto the brass rod. Cut equal thread inside aluminium tube. screw together. Cut windvane to shape and size and cut tail so that it will fit into aluminium tube slot. Epoxy tail into place and cut tube and brass rod to length so its perfectly balanced. Cost £10 and you have enough left over bits to start up in wind vane business in your spare time.
