Hi,

Could anyone tell me where I might be able to get hold of some cheap windows for my narrowboat.
I am looking for the "normal" caravan type windows with allly frames. My windows are less then 24" square so they are not the biggest.

I am based in Reading so could do with somewhere local..ish.

Thanks
Mike.

I built my dutch barge last year, I used Severn Yacht Marine windows based in the midlands, for some reason they are a lot cheaper than anyone else. I paid around £2k for 18 windows, which in my book is fairly cheap. The big advantage is they'll make them to your individual sizes.

When I converted my camper I looked through the motorhome magazines & selected somewhere in the midlands (think it was Midlands Glass, but memory's failing me now..). Anyway the job was fantastic. Sliding openers etc & sizes up to 6ft long. Still working OK. Delivery included - along with a very useful stiffening sheet of 7' x 2'6" shuttering ply. The glazing for my Merc Sprinter came to a touch under £400 - and that's a lot of glass.

Hope that helps a little!

Regards

Richard.

If you are in Reading you must go and talk to Paul Hughes at Marine Windows, they have a place in a boat yard in Mill Green very near to Caversham (get directions). 0118 948 2664.

Got excellent advice and service from them recently.

Dave
