Why did I buy a Cruiser?

I have spent hour after hour srcapping, painting, cleaning, fixing and god knows what else for the last 4 months. I suffered with back ache and ear ache!! and most other kinds of aches.

The mast has been down then up, then back down and up and now its back down, hopefully up again Saturday and it will stay up.

Countless trips the chanderlers to buy screws, bolts, paint, ropes and other bits.

My wife has not said much, which i'm not sure if thats a good or bad thing.

I'm hoping that by the end of this weekend it will all be finished and ready for the launch on Sunday 8th and then when I'm crusing up Southampton waters I will realise why i Brought a Cruiser.

We had our last boat for 10 years and gave the new owner a printout of our job list which I kept on the computer. There were the same number of to do things as the day we bought her, not the same ones aside from the obvious routine stuff, but different ones. Nature abhors a vacuum, one job crossed off so another idea pops up.

We are just about to move on board a new boat that is essentially 'turnkey' so my list is only 3 pages long so far.

You gave them a printout! I'd have to sell the boat to pay for the paper and ink cartridges....

Why have a cruiser

For the same reason you get up on Sat and Sun mornings. To give you something more in life than just existence. The trick is to escape from this concept that the boat must be perfect. Just do the jobs you feel like doing then relaunch and make the most of what you have.
I guess the sad thing is when we sail our boats is that you never notice what is right about the boat just what is wrong. The madness continues learn to enjoy it olewill

Very wise words william. Believe me, I will be enjoying her. And yes i stand corrected. When I said finished, I meant finished at that moment. Im quite sure there will be another dozen things that need doing by the time I get her to the mooring.

But they can wait til next year.
