Arny's posts haven't been removed, they are on another thread, currently on page 2. To the best of my knowledge he hasn't posted in this thread, so nothing sneaky going on. He doesn't appear to have been back here since he said he was going to stop posting on here, which was before this thread started.

Funding is straightforward if you look at his website. There is sponsorship to do the trip, and fundraising for RNLI. The two are clearly separate. I believe that all the sponsors are clear in understanding that they are paying for the trip. Anyone who has donated - their dosh goes to RNLI.

As one of the sponsors, I clearly know that I am funding Arny & boat - fuel, expenses etc. I don't have a problem with this, taking 60 days off work to do the trip and paying the running costs of a mobo around the UK is a financial problem beyond most people's resources, so I am "enabling" it to happen. Arny hasn't got sponsorship for the whole circuit, and he will have to make up any shortfall in running costs himself.

I understand where you're coming from re your NBTS work, for which you should be very proud, but it doesn't normally require you to take two months out from earning you living, so a bit different. Ride safe.

I can confirm that. The web site makes the funding very clear. Arny as far as I know has not read this thread. His wife, Sally has however. She remains at home alone and follows the forum and the posts on it.

Just for the record, I ride my own motorbike in full police livery and do volunteer work for the National Blood Transfusion Service. I am one of only 8 police-trained advanced motorcyclists in the UK doing this work. You will often see me south of London in the home counties and on the M25.

Every time I leave my home on an urgent shout, it will cost me about £28 per trip out of my own pocket. I get no sponsorship or money what so ever and consider this is how it should be done.
