No doubt re envigorated by a certain forumite, the ATYC is organising once again, a "Rally" in West India Dock over the August Bank Holiday 2024.
The last one, held in 2019 , was considered a real sucess by all who actually bothered to attend and was a result of a lot of hard work by folks who usually get precious little thanks for their efforts.
Probably one of the best have ever attended, due no doubt to efforts of the Sea scouts resident in the dock providing sailing dingies, kayaks and other diversions during the day for kids of all ages.
Certain skippers did end up in the somewhat murky waters of the dock.
Various difficulties got in the way since 2019 but the ATYC has probably gone to a great deal of time and trouble to get this event under way.
Scuttlebutt was that the ATYC was suprised at the number of boats from below Teddington that attended their last rally in WID and that in the future clubs on tidal waters should be considered as important as those above the lock.
RCC will definately be asking if we can attend and suspect that we will get great deal of interest in this trip.
Last time think RCC had around 18-20 boats attend.
The ATYC has pointed out once again the sad and dire response to a request that any club interested in what the ATYC does , supply them some very basic contact info.................

Not sure how many boat clubs there are in the Thames catchement area but so far only 18 clubs have registered on the ATYC database so far.
My club BTW was one of the offenders.
PS. Your club will need to be on their data base to book in any craft wishing to attend.
:)
