Well i have met Byron at his Thamside residence.. and BarryD at his not so Thameside residence... mind you both occasions it was to procure items advertised! Very nice blokes, very helpful and i suppose total nutters at the same time ! (in the best possible taste of course!!!)

Spoke to Boatone on the phone a few times... very handy bloke with lots of practical knowledge...!

Otherwise... don't know any of em.. only from exchanging posts on here a few times...

Cheers,

C

Well there’s tcm, jfm, Dave Steward, Eddie Perkins and Andy Wilson who’ve all kindly invited me on to their boats.

Of course there’s the mob from the MoBoat dinner earlier this year, but I won’t mention their names in case I miss someone and end up not getting an invite to their boat. Then there’s Stamfordian, we met recently when I gave him my old outboard, but he’s not invited me to his boat (Hint); Alpha, I met recently and Byron, who I met at Ramsgate Yacht Club last year. Had a few phone calls with Boatone too.

Several from IPC who I met also through the Cruise In Company to Holland last year including Kim, Neale and Jake oh and Piers too. Who could forget "outgrageous Piers".

There’s a couple of lurkers I know who enjoy the posts but haven’t as yet plucked up the courage to register and post and probably another couple that I’ve missed.

Not managed to meet up with that girlie who posted a month or so back looking for a date with a boat owner though. Think Haydn beat us all to that.

The winners are.....

I hereby declare that the s/p's are the winners in the Who knows Who contest.

The prize is an invitation to sail on my boat (in nothing less than a Force 8). As she is Category B (Force 7 max) this will be the final part of the test and you will be able to prove how macho you are. Only rule is you must all be there together. Now she is only 21' so a little careful planning for the sleeping and seating arrangements will be required. I will provide the drinks (ovaltine or coco with rum) and ginger biscuits (sea sickness cure).

Coliholic will helm, hlb will navigate, any work needed up the mast - tcm, outboard management - tomo, BarryD on the gibsheets, others allocated on the departure day.

Where do you fancy for your first port of call?

Re: The winners are.....

Windemere!

Just to say that since I have been on here I have met Piers, Jake (and wife) Neil Tom Gregory, LongJohn, Pauline and Jon B, Chrisp and Diane oh and Suzanne and the rest of the Brighton Mob, Col, GeoffS, Stuart W, Rich, DaveG and sorry to anyone else I may have forgotten.

Spoken to Gludy, Parahandy Tomo Zefender and Tony and due to see Dave stewart soon along with Brighton Mob who are turning up. Had Pms from most of you at some point or another.

Anybody else coming over this year?

Dom

Re: The winners are.....

Good suggestion but there is a 10(?) knot speed limit and Chris771 towing us along when the engine packs up (sorry Tomo) we could end up in trouble.

I was thinking of making you Chief Engineer but then I realised it doesn't have an inboard or diesel engine, and the outboard is not a Wolwo, so if you go and sit on the windward rail that would help.

Being new to the forum (and boat ownership) I don't 'know' anyone, but having posted a query re my Princess 32 I have been really impressed by the willingness to help and to share knowledge ( pauljs_eng, boatone, sekyd, divemaster and oldgit to name but a few). Thanks all!

Re: The winners are.....

Hope to be over in the next few weeks Dom, I fancy a plate of those moules frites. Expect the marina will be a bit busier than last November?

Also fancy a few days on Herm, can I dry out anywhere or do I need to anchor. What do you recommend?

Well I've met Ultrarep, seems a fairly normal person, Keep threatening to bump into Geoffs and Aztec. To be honest I think I'll keep myself incognito as the rest of you seem BLOODY RAVING MAD!!

Wha'dya mean "I'm always playing with this engine" its the only way to get it to run!

Ooh thanks for the invite david=e and I get to drive too. Cor that'll be GREAT. but only if I can fall off, 'cos that's my forte really. Who's second in command to practice the MOB for my rescue then?

Re: The winners are.....

Anchor or dry out totally up to you I can recommend a place for both but weathe depending of course and tide aswell. depends how much you want to drink onshore as to how you get back on your boat also ;-)

Let me know the dates I will do the arranging. And dont moan about the beer, the barman spat in yours three times in that pub and you still werent happy ;-)

best to keep yer head down, we're all bloody mad.. who else buys a hole in the water then throws all their money into it!

by reading posts and replies, you can get an idea of what type of person is behind it.. good or bad.. not got round to meeting anyone, but that probably a good thing for the rest of humanity!

all the best, steve.

interested in stuff that needs mendin'

Re: The winners are.....

Wots a gib sheet then? And F8 are you mad, that will have my beer all down my t-shirt? I see Coliholic has already taken the MOB / Falling Off slot but I wonder if there still a vacancy for gibbering wreck in the pointy end cabin?

Go left, YOUR OTHER left for pete's sake
(IMHO, BTW, FWIW and NWGOI)

Re: falling off

Your reputation for falling of is well known, especially in Peelyweely where they are still cleaning up after the tidal wave you sent out from your last fall from Diana II. Anyway I was kinda thinkin that by letting you have the steeringstick that it might keep you on board (we need a bit of ballast) so haven't appointed number 2. Will give it some thought but could go pressganging around the YBW offices if a bit short on staff.

BTW it's david_e not david=e, or Admiral to you. (not Rear Admiral, I'm straight)
