Ok, More info then. or a question. does anyone know where this is,
Me neither but it can make a slow boat journey more interesting.Cherbourg with the outer breakwater and your waypoint at the western entrance nicely defined on radar. The radar would be enough for me if visibility was bad though: I'm neither going to be glued to the AR screen nor donning any kind of AR headset any time soon.

I am going to play again on a friends boat that has it, he loves toys and is very knowledgeable on all thing boaty, I want to take some video when there rather than just screen shots. If I can make it happen I will share it. I have played a few time and was at Raymarine when they first came up with the idea, gave the developer a grilling on what use it would be, Now its 3 years old and have been told its very good in low light or bad vis and night , so you look in the right direction to find the marks you need. It certainly was good on the trip I took the screen shot on.Sorry for sidetracking because this is a really interesting topic we haven't (as far as I can remember) discussed here before. I can point to a number of things of which I've said "Well I don't see the point of that" and later changed my mind.
The new AR displays map data you already have from other sources to a camera image but it's a camera image (not a pair of goggles) so you then have to map *that* onto what you can see with your eyes. Given that I'm already mapping data from AIS (and radar if I'm on a boat which has it) onto what I can see in my head, the AR display would, *I suspect* be just a distraction for me but I'd be really interested to hear more about what people who've actually used these displays think about them.
Blimey, Cherbourg's changed a bit.Closest to AR here is google maps 3d screenshot, can be very handy though
I can think of one time in the Channel Islands where I'd have loved that.I am going to play again on a friends boat that has it, he loves toys and is very knowledgeable on all thing boaty, I want to take some video when there rather than just screen shots. I was on a Felming 65 ,Can you tell us a bit more about what you were using. Looks intriguing.
Good to see you back.
