Hi, complete non-tech person here. We have a 1968 Westerly 33 and need to replace the two drive belts on the OM636 engine.
Not a serpentine belt set up. How the heck do we get the old belts off? Do we need a special tool to remove the wheels to then slip off the old belts?
We are stumped.
TIA

If similar to the om314, seawater pump holding bolts were in slots, for adjustment.
Alternator belt, same as a car of a similar age, an adjusting screw bolt, and loosen the pivot bolt at the bottom. plenty of pics of the alternator on google

Thanks, not really the same. We've got the alternator off but that's as far as we've got.

I have the same boat. Changed both belts about a month ago. If you have the alternator off then that’s that one sorted. The sea water pump belt is a similar case of either loosening the two bolts that enable adjustment and sliding it closer to the engine or just take the pump off completely to remove the belt. Whilst you have them off check for play/leaks around the fresh water pump (the pulley at the top) - if it is worn now is a good time to change it. Spares available from Manfred at Westfield 4x4
