Are there jobs for the boys and jobs for the girls on your boats?

Mr B very reluctantly lets me drive, because it means I can sit there saying bring me this, bring me that, do this - he much prefers to do the driving and giving orders to the crew.

Is it common practice that the boys drive and the girls have to do the f...ing fenders?

Funny you should say that.

Myself and my Wife did our Day Skipper practical last year, the instructor wanted to mainly focus on Bev as she had less hands on experience than me. I had to crew whilst this was being done.

Now I am happy to admit, it is bloody hard work and to be honest, I hated crewing. Sorting out fenders, ropes and all that nonsense. Give me my throttle sticks back.

At the end of the day, my wife is much better at crewing than me /forums/images/icons/smile.gif so I feel we should stick with what we are good at.

The only problem is, Bev managed to moor the boat perfectly, trim it under speed perfectly, oh and not get stressed with the crew and shout "JUMP!" when quite blatently the boat is not close enough to the jetty to do so.

hmmmm, well I am crap at crewing. And don't say "Practice makes perfect..." /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Hmmm, you and Bev would get on well.

I think I will start with my back complaint every time I get on the boat from now on.

I dunno Pauline, the last time I faked fainting into the helming seat due to the shrapnel from the Korean war.

I said to Bev I should be okay, fetch me a cold beer and cast off and all will be okay. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

"You were too young to be in the Korean war..."

I thought it worked in Fawlty Towers.

I told her I watched discovery a lot and had flash backs at some of the gory pics, being squeamish..... Oh God I could go on, lets put it this way I normally end up helming.

New years resolution, let Bev have control more this year..... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif Especially on windy days, with no bow thruster it makes for interesting mooring....

Is that because you do not know what your depth is and they are worried you will run aground? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Sounds like fun!

I remember watching a couple struggling to get their boat out of a mooring once, so I offered to help them. I held the stern rope, grabbed the rails and walked the boat backwards, once the boat was just about out I turned to throw the rope to the lady in the cockpit, she had gone, DOWN BELOW! Ah, so I guess that is it then..... I threw the rope into the cockpit and had to leave them to it.

Once the boat was free and in the open, one of his engines died, I offered to assist them back into the mooring so he could look at what was wrong as he could not start it, he said, not too worry and headed off to sea.

I have never seen anything like it, no crew, no engines, I mean what is the bloody point, just scuttle your boat there and then in the marina and swim to shore, get it over with. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
