My point was more that our sprayhood uses almost all the height available below the boom. Admittedly it doesn't look as sleek as some of the other posted above - but, if it wasn't there, you'd gain little in terms of safe headroom anyway. It's the presence of a decent size bridgedeck that makes it a bit of a 'clamber' to the companionway - but then that allows a snug extra spot to sit/perch.

I guess if the sprayhood took space that you could actually use for standing in the cockpit (instead of on/over the bridgedeck, which puts you in direct line of being brained by the boom) I'd feel it more of a 'compromise'.
