I am in the process of searching for a family cruiser boat. I believe that I can proceed with the purchase during mid October, November, except I find something that I cannot say no to. Our family consists of my wife our two daughters, and last but not least me, so we want 2 separate cabins, one master for my wife and my self and one for the kids. Our budget is around 80 to 90K euros, and just for your information the prices here in Greece are almost the same (or maybe a little bit cheaper) than in the rest of Europe. Of course we are talking only for diesels. We live in Athens, so we sail usually in the Saronic islands and the Aegean sea, where the sea is usually choppy and windy.
Few years ago we were in the same place, since we were searching for a 27 to 32 ft boat. We loved the Princess 32 Riviera, but we could not find one here in Greece, so we purchase an old Windy 27, which we totally renovated, and we had a great time with her. Our Windy was sold 2 months ago, in order to upgrade to a bigger boat, since we needed a separate 2 cabins layout.
I must admit that we love Princess boats, so I am bargaining right now a 1994 Princess 366 Riviera with stern drives, and also a 1991 Sealine 328 sovereign. The exterior and interior fits almost 100% our needs and both boats are in a good condition for the money asked, BUT in a conversation we had with my wife, she reminded me that there were many times in the past that during the winter we would like to go for a weekend in the near islands, but we could not, because of the inadequate protection of the canvas cover. So she proposed to go for a pilot house or fly bridge type of boat. To be honest the ability to travel all year long is something I would like too. Boating in the winter with the covers on is not an option not only for us but also for the kids, so I think that we have a change of plans!!!
The problem now is that I have never being interested in a fly bridge boat in the past, and I see some of the models that I like (Princess 360 e.g.), that cost more than our budget. So I was thinking that maybe you people can help me possibly with some hints or advises on which way to go.
Thanks
Nick
