I am in the process of searching for a family cruiser boat. I believe that I can proceed with the purchase during mid October, November, except I find something that I cannot say no to. Our family consists of my wife our two daughters, and last but not least me, so we want 2 separate cabins, one master for my wife and my self and one for the kids. Our budget is around 80 to 90K euros, and just for your information the prices here in Greece are almost the same (or maybe a little bit cheaper) than in the rest of Europe. Of course we are talking only for diesels. We live in Athens, so we sail usually in the Saronic islands and the Aegean sea, where the sea is usually choppy and windy.

Few years ago we were in the same place, since we were searching for a 27 to 32 ft boat. We loved the Princess 32 Riviera, but we could not find one here in Greece, so we purchase an old Windy 27, which we totally renovated, and we had a great time with her. Our Windy was sold 2 months ago, in order to upgrade to a bigger boat, since we needed a separate 2 cabins layout.

I must admit that we love Princess boats, so I am bargaining right now a 1994 Princess 366 Riviera with stern drives, and also a 1991 Sealine 328 sovereign. The exterior and interior fits almost 100% our needs and both boats are in a good condition for the money asked, BUT in a conversation we had with my wife, she reminded me that there were many times in the past that during the winter we would like to go for a weekend in the near islands, but we could not, because of the inadequate protection of the canvas cover. So she proposed to go for a pilot house or fly bridge type of boat. To be honest the ability to travel all year long is something I would like too. Boating in the winter with the covers on is not an option not only for us but also for the kids, so I think that we have a change of plans!!!

The problem now is that I have never being interested in a fly bridge boat in the past, and I see some of the models that I like (Princess 360 e.g.), that cost more than our budget. So I was thinking that maybe you people can help me possibly with some hints or advises on which way to go.

Thanks

Nick

what about hardtops?
have a look at the Jeanneau 34 Prestige Sports Top, or Elan 35 for a bit more budget then a Princess 366 Riviera the 34 Prestige Sports Top might fit the bill
also I would look at a Windy 37 Grand Mistral with hard top, I might know of one which might fit the bill

We've been on our P35 for the last month, but also cruise all year, no matter what the weather, snug and warm inside, even with an inch of ice on the deck. We have a small $house inside with a veranda and a roof garden above, normally we sail from the roof garden. But if it gets really bad, we go down stairs, shut the door and put the heating on.

Even the dog comes upstairs, we dont mind a few waves over the top, cos theres always the option.

Thanks guys for the replies.

I was waiting for your responses, but I had not subscribed to this thread and I didn't received an e-mail, so sorry for the delay.

Elan 35 is too expensive for my budget (>130K euros)... remember my budget is max 90K euros ;)

Windy 37 Grand Mistral is a great boat, but still is beyond my budget and also the hard top version is more expensive and too rare to find.

Jeanneau Prestige 34 is again above my limits. Economic crisis period... don't forget :)

Sealine 360 Statesman & Sealine F36 are two boats I like a lot... In fact there is one with 90K euros Sealine 36 in Lefkas, Greece... I guest I can make a phone call and ask for more info about this one. What's your opinion ? From the pictures do you see something that should make me cautious ?

Princess 35 is a boat I also like, but I really cannot understand why it is so highly priced. I don't say she is not worth it but still it is very expensive for that age, but thats my opinion only. Still I am interested in that hull indeed.

32 Scirrocco?
Not a 2 cabins boat... It is rather an 1+1 boat :( Nice boat though ;)

So from your replies I am till now between:

1. Sealine 360 Statesman
2. Sealine F36
3. Princess 35

Any advises ?

Thanks

Nick :)

hello nick how about looking for a Ferretti 40 Altura Roadster
these are great boats with a super seakeeping hull, they drink more to P35 sure due to Cat 375hp engines but really a great boat
they ask about 120k but 90k should get you one
I would also put an Azimut 32 Targa Mk.II in that budget with an overall length of about 35 feet should make it there and very nice interior too

I have a Windy Mistral 33...

Got a "proper" forward berth, v similar to the Grand Mistral 37, the second cabin is not as good, but much cheaper.

Might be a bit rare in Greece?

Best of luck with whatever you end up with

Stu

why not look up moonraker 36.built between 1970-1990.massive interior space for a 36footer.with aft cabin on suit/shower.forward cabin also as toilet/shower too.
20-22khts from twin perkins 175hp diesel's. a good one will be around the 60thound pound mark.
worth a look!

I know that boat :) A very good friend used to own one and we have made several trips together. It is a good boat but IMHO it is like a box... or better it more box than a boat as far as the aesthetics is concerned.

I want to buy a boat is lovable from the outside too, and Sealines and Princesses are lovable boats!!!

Yes, it is a Sealine 365 Sportscruiser rather than a F36/360 flybridge!
Can you please explain what do you mean ?
Sealine 365 sportscruiser is similar to 360 statesman and F360 ?
What's the pros and cons of 365 ?

Sorry for asking but I really dont know?

I think he said flybridges are out of the question and he wants a hard top boat

in his case I would definitly look for a Ferretti 40 Atlura Roadster
among the most seaworthy boat in its class, I saw two once going up in a Force 6 Mistral head sea like it was noting
