I stayed on Doca de Alcântara. Going up the river I was so busy taking in the sights that I nearly went into the wrong marina, I knew it was just past the 'Ponte 25 de Abril' suspension bridge, so started heading to the first one I saw which was Doca de Santo Amaro, not Doca de Alcântara, an error quickly rectified!

Doca de Alcantara has a high wall all round. If the yacht club berths are full and you are refused access to them, there is nowhere to get ashore. However, I carry a full-length ladder aboard (useful in such places), so on one occasion tied up to a floating pontoon in the dock and used it to get up the wall, so stayed for free. After a few days there were seven other yachts rafted to the pontoon and using my ladder. Then I left. As I took down the ladder, there was practically a riot from the other yachties no longer able go ashore, or with crew marooned there!

Phoned all the marinas in Lisbon. All full. We’re in Cascais and my wallet is gasping for breath. Upmarket and expensive…. Cheap winter rates start tomorrow. Only 45 euros a night compared with 55 euros for tonight. Lots of boats anchored and I think I now know why.
In settled weather you can anchor off Cascais. Take your dinghy to the back of the fuel dock and chain up. We anchored for two weeks last year. We don't like marinas. We didn't use one between North Wales and the Algarve. We are much happier at anchor.
There is a great supermarket in Cascais, Uber is cheap to get about or train in to Lisbon. We hired a scooter cheaply and headed in to the mountains as well. The local Cascais market has local fruit and veg that we always try to buy. It lasts longer.

We anchor a fair amount but the crew wanted walk ashore and with four of us onboard dinghy routines become a pita when people want to go ashore and return at different times.

One padlock four keys and mobile phone. He who gets back first picks up the rest?
It's usually too hot and noisy in a marina.
Cascais marina is always way too hot

Exactly! My first thought when I read your initial question was: Hah, he thinks there's room in any of them! :ROFLMAO:

When we came through there, we anchored in front of Cascais for a couple days, phoning all the marinas every morning until after 4 days one grumpy employee said "yes you can come". It turned out to be Doca de Alcantara, which was a good location, perfectly sheltered from the river traffic and quiet. As others said, you don't want to be under the humming bridge (that'd be Doca de Santo Amaro), you'll not get any sleep. These are government run marinas and they do not give their staff VHF radios, so we had to temporarily dock at a tourist tripper dock, walk to the office and ask where to berth. Grumpy guy then told us a berth number and after some coaxing even showed us on a map where it was. Then sternly reminded us that he was going on extended lunch break now and not to bother him before 15:00 again.

Well worth visiting though, although the much more chilled out Porto won our hearts over Lisbon. Enjoy!

That wasn't what I found. I tied up to a pontoon on the inside of the 'sea' wall, walked all the way around the basin on a pontoon until I got to a ramp by the marina office, then asked if they could fit me in for about a week. They did a check, found a berth that was available and directed me to it, which was on a finger.
This was in 2017, when were you there?
