Which cooker/oven/stove?

I'm considering buying a new cooker to replace the 1980's 3 burner+oven one that I have.

What recommendations please?

We have one of these and one of these. Both are of very high quality and work perfectly.

This first costs almost £2000 and the second costs way less than £200.
Suprisingly, we use the second one almost every day when on board. The first one is still on it's first gas bottle after 3 seasons!

Wouldn't consider anything other than a force ten . They are not cheap but they are made for marine use and not caravans like many others . Check out the quality of buiid . Absolute unrivalled king of marine cookers !! IMHO of course .

Scotty Tradewind,

I agree with Rickym. I fitted a Spinflo Nelson last season. Excellent cooker, reasonably priced and economic on gas.

Based on my experience, I honestly can't recommend Plastimo. Ours is forever needing something doing to it. Often difficult to light, blackens pans, taps seize when grill on due to heat, grill mesh fell off.

What about these guys http://www.gn-espace.com/ ?

Pete

I saw this demonstrated at a show and was impressed at first.
But upon reflection, not sure about the grill.
Either it hasn't got one or you have to have the oven door open all the time to use it.
And they wax lyrical about how they're designed for professional use in catering establishments years of experience etc etc? I think not.

Looks nice, well built, but not a "complete" cooker. IMO.

We fitted a Spinflo Nelson to our last boat in 2005 and was very happy with it.

Our new boat will have a Force10 so looks like a good replacement. :)

Good point. I don't use the grill on KS all that often, but if I was buying a new cooker I'd want it to have one.

Interestingly it looks like the Force 4 cookers praised by various posters don't have a separate grill either.

Don't get a Force 10 oven confused with ones purchased from Force 4. ;)

The Force 10 ovens do have a grill, it's just that being a Canadian product, they call it a broiler.

The GN-Espace also has a grill, but like the Force 10, needs to be used with the door open. That's not always the best option in a seaway.

Sorry, a thinko :) It was the Force 10 ones I meant, having followed the link from SolentBoy's post and been surprised that none of the models listed had a grill.

I don't consider that a real grill.

Your problem is going to be, what will fit and swing in the aperture you have in the galley, the Force 10 is an excellent cooker if you can fit it, but the pan holders need re-designing and don't even think about making toast on the broiler.

I also fitted a Spinflo Nelson about 5 years ago and SWMBO is very pleased with it, Highly recommended and a reasonable price(compared to some!)
